Here’s a little snippet from one of today’s session’s. While I always focus on the whole horse, this clip shows some hindquarter work using PEMFT, massage, and stretching to improve circulation, release tension, and improve mobility. The hindquarters are so important in your horses performance and way of going and a really important part of my treatment. Every session is tailored to the individual and aimed to reduce pain and discomfort, enhance mobility and function and boost performance. #EquinePhysio #HorseWellness #PEMFT #EquineMassage #WholeHorseApproach #HorsePerformance #HorseCare #VetPhysio #equinetherapy
I love my job so much 🫶🏼, so thankful I get to work with these fantastic animals. Here I am with Blackie we have been working through some shoulder issues and with the help of veterinary professionals we are starting to see some comfort and improvement. MUSCLE SPASMS, BE GONE! ✨ Massage therapy can truly work wonders for horses dealing with muscle spasms. By starting with gentle pressure and gradually increasing intensity, this technique helps to release tight knots, boost blood circulation, and deeply relax the muscles. The benefits go beyond immediate relief—regular massage can prevent future spasms, improve overall flexibility, and elevate your horse’s performance. #EquineMassage #HorseCare #MuscleRecovery #HorseHealth #EquestrianLife #EquineWellness #HorseTraining #PainRelief
✨STRIDE & STRENGTH POLEWORK, exercise ONE ✨How to do pole work in walk to boost your horse’s range of motion and strength. Sometimes, working at a walk is even better than trotting or cantering as it allows for more controlled, precise movements and increased usage of musculature as the horse isn’t relying on the spring and bounce of canter or trot to travel over the poles. All you need are 5 poles spaced 2.5 feet apart (one human step) and simply walk your horse through the poles with a loose, relaxed contact, striding confidently over them.Want to take it to the next level? 🌟 Progress the exercise by raising the opposing ends of the poles. This will further increase range of motion, flexibility, and strength! Megan x
I just love to see a sleepy face 💤
This common response to treatment is a clear indicator of relaxation and comfort. During physiotherapy, whether it's through massage, electrotherapy, or other hands-on techniques, the horse's body releases endorphins which are the natural "feel-good" hormones. These endorphins help alleviate pain and induce a state of deep relaxation.
As tension melts away, horses feel safe and secure, allowing their eyes to droop and their bodies to enter a restful state. The response is evidence of the effectiveness from treatments in promoting not just physical healing, but also overall well-being and stress relief.
I wanted to share the amazing progress of this beautiful horse who initially had a tight back and muscle spasms. With the use of laser therapy and massage techniques, I transformed those tense muscles into a relaxed, pliable back! Before treatment, the horse had a tight, rigid back with visible spasms, leading to discomfort and reduced mobility. After treatment, the muscles became relaxed and soft, with reduced spasms and improved range of motion. Veterinary physiotherapy offers numerous benefits, including pain relief, improved mobility, better performance, and overall well-being. Just look at difference here! I am committed to delivering top-notch care and helping your equine friends live their best lives ✨Megan x
I don’t do it as often as I should, but I love recording snippets of treatments. Here are some short clips of some clients from my clinic days at @stationhousevets, where I work bi-weekly alongside the veterinary team to ensure small animal patients receive the best care.
Most of my canine work is done as part of their rehabilitation program, which is crucial for dogs as it manages pain, enhances mobility, and accelerates healing. Treatments also reduce the risks of complications such as muscle atrophy and joint stiffness, and improves overall functionality and mental well-being, ensuring a successful recovery process. I also work with dogs suffering from arthritis and age-related issues, helping manage pain, improve joint mobility, and enhance muscle strength.
Watching snippets like these makes me feel really proud to be part of a team that is enhancing dogs’ quality of life and makes me realise how much I truly love my job.
