π€ From the Heart of a Dog Walker π€
After almost four years of running this little company of mine, there have been a great number of joyful moments. Getting to know that furry family member is a honour and a privilege... but no one prepares you for how their little personalities worm their way into your heart.
No one tells you that being a dog walker is hard.
In fact, you'll see it every summer as hard working entrepreneurial teens offer a helping hand to neighbours. Mostly, they don't have to worry about rain or bad weather, or good ole' John down by the beck who without fail will tell them they have their hands full.
No one tells you how it will feel when you lose a client too soon.
I have been blessed to meet so many dogs who have etched their way into my heart with their brilliant quirks and their wagging tails, their d***y grins and their gentle hearts... Seeing them every day, they become a part of my life and a piece of my heart that feels lost and empty when it's time to say goodbye.
To my fellow dog walkers and pet caregivers, know you're not alone in feeling this ache. Your selfless love and devotion make every moment count in these lives that are too short.
To my clients, thank you for entrusting me with your companions. I am humbled and honored to be part of their story.
With love and compassion...
- Dedicated to Malcolm, Mae, Max, Elsie, Bowser, Alfie, Bella, Merlin, Kayto, Dakota, Remi, Honey, Rocky, Sheeba and every other little soul who has been lost over the years.
