Jessie is a wonderful, well-rounded girl—great with other dogs, cats, and fantastic with children. She is also crate trained, has no separation anxiety, and walks beautifully on the lead.

Jessie is currently in Portslade, but transport can be arranged anywhere in the country.

Chille is a gorgeous whippet x chihuahua who is 10 years old looking for a forever home.

Chille is up to date with vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and has no health conditions.

Chille would do best in a no pet household as she does prefer to have all the attention.

Chille is crate trained, house trained, has no food aggression issues, she is fine to be left alone at home and has no issues with being destructive in the home, she is good off lead however does not get on well with other female dogs so if off lead has to ideally be around no other dogs.

Chille is around 11.4kg in weight.

Chille does like her strict schedule and will bark if it’s gone past breakfast/ dinner time and she has not been fed.

Chille also loves children.

We are looking for a trial adoption off 2 weeks for Chille.

If you would be keen please email [email protected]

LEO IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME!

This is Leo, he is a 2 year old Pomeranian looking for his forever home!

He is castrated, microchipped and currently in foster restarting his vaccines.

Leo is looking for a patient home that will take the time he needs to trust as he does have a fear of people in the beginning.

Leo is lovely once he gets to know you and on his own terms. When first meeting he will growl and it will take him time to get used to new people but once he does he will comes over for cuddles and strokes but until he fully trusts you it has to be only when he wants it.

He is good with other dogs and cats. So can be rehomed with both.

Leo is great on the lead and is completely housetrained. He loves meeting other dogs and doesn't react to people walking past him.

He is not destructive and is fine to be left alone for a couple hours.

He needs to have clear boundaries, put in place from the start about going on furniture as he does try to resource guard furniture.

He will need to wear a muzzle when going to the vets as he is unsure about new people.

Leo is looking for an adult only home.

Leo will need to be visted in Eastbourne where he is in foster multiple times before adoption.

Please note we are now taking a £50 deposit for adopt applications (Explanation on a previous post).

If you would like to adopt Leo please email [email protected]

🐾 Important Update on Adoption Applications 🐾

EDIT: Thank you all for your supportive comments. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to increase the application deposit to £25, as we agree that £15 may not be a sufficient deterrent for those who are not fully committed. This change will help ensure that our time and resources are dedicated to those who are serious about providing a loving home to a rescue dog. We appreciate your understanding and continued support in helping us find the best possible matches for our dogs.

To reduce last-minute cancellations as mentioned in a previous post, we are implementing a required adoption application deposit of £25. So far this month, 23 applications have been cancelled, often after volunteers had already scheduled or even arrived for home visits — only to be ignored at the door.

✅ It will be deducted from the final adoption fee
❌ It is non-refundable if the adopter withdraws after the process has begun

This deposit helps cover fuel costs and the time spent on home checks and applications, ensuring:
🐶 Respect for Volunteers – Their time and effort are valued.
🐶 Serious Commitment – Applicants are fully prepared.
🐶 Helping More Dogs – Reducing delays in rehoming.

We understand circumstances change, but please only apply if you’re fully committed. Thank you for your support! ❤️

🐾 A Heartfelt Request to Our Community 🐾

We’re writing this because, just in the past week, we’ve had three separate cases where people pulled out of surrendering their dogs after we’d put in significant time and effort finding those dogs loving homes. Although we are happy those dogs are able to stay with people who love them, our time and effort is being disregarded.

What many people don’t realise is that we are a COMPLETELY voluntary organisation. No one in our team receives any payment for the work we do. We all have full-time jobs, families and dedicate our free time—early mornings, late nights, and weekends—purely because we love dogs and want to help them find the care they deserve.

In the surrender cases, the individuals stressed that their situation was urgent, which led us to dedicate extra time to move things quickly. Despite our efforts, the plans were cancelled days before. This is not only frustrating but also stressful, as we work hard to prioritise dogs in need.

Another issue we are facing at the moment is people pulling out of adoptions at the last minute, even after we’ve completed all the necessary steps, leaving dogs without homes and preventing us from helping others.

Behind the Adoption Process:

- We Review Applications to ensure the adopter is a good fit.
- We Arrange Home Checks to confirm the home is safe for the dog.
- We Organize Meetings and Transport, often requiring hours and even days of coordination.

When people change their minds after all this effort, it wastes our time and energy, leaves dogs without homes, and hinders our ability to help others who are genuinely ready to adopt or surrender responsibly.

How You Can Help:

- Be Sure Before Contacting Us: Please think carefully and be 100% sure of your decision before reaching out to adopt or surrender.
- Respect the Process: Each step takes time and effort to ensure the best outcomes for the dogs.

We want to help as many dogs as possible, but we need your understanding and cooperation to do that. Thank you for respecting our time and supporting our efforts.

With gratitude,
The SDRR Team
