💔 A Rollercoaster of a Day 💔
On Tuesday at 1:38pm, Poppy, who was out on a group walk, ran off and headed towards Killermarsh. This was such a huge shock because this isn’t a usual behaviour from Poppy chops. We were left feeling heartbroken, guilty, and so worried for her safety.
After 4 hours of searching, contacting dog drone charities, dog wardens, highway traffic control, and even the railway system, we finally managed to get her back at 5:31pm. About half an hour before she was caught, I spotted her chasing hares in a horse field — her instincts clearly taking over.
When she was finally back the wave of relief was overwhelming. It’s a feeling we’ll never forget, and we’re deeply thankful to everyone who offered advice, kept an eye out, and supported while we searched.
As much as we trust the dogs we walk, Tuesday was an important reminder that dogs are sentient beings — not robots. They’re individuals, each with their own instincts, personalities, and choices.
This incident was every dog walker’s worst nightmare, and we are absolutely devastated that it happened — but more than anything, we are just thankful beyond measure that Poppy is safe. 🐾❤️
To our wonderful clients: please know that we take the safety of every single dog in our care extremely seriously, and we’ll continue to do everything possible to keep them happy, safe, and loved on every walk.
