Happy Friday all you Dapper People! It's been a while, we've been rather busy with fostering I'm afraid.

But all that hard work has paid off, and Jessie is now ready for her new home! She's a really sweet, happy girl who just wants love (and all the food 🤣). She is a roughly 4 year old, Greyhound x Staffordshire Bull Terrier, who was strayed before the kennels found her.

Jessie was set to be euthanised, due to 'aggression' in the kennels. Unfortunately the staff didn't understand that she was just malnourished, 10kg underweight, had 3 infections, an open wound and was traumatised. Since being fostered, and getting healthy, she has really come out of her shell! She is still VERY food motivated, and still a little unsure of some men due to trauma. She is however, still friendly, and would rather retreat than act defensive. She walks nicely on a lead, can pull a little when she gets excited, but easily distracted again by food. We have been working on neutrality, socialisation, toilet training, lead walking, separation, and crate training, alongside some smaller foundation steps to further training. She has met our 'helper' dog, and is friends with him. She has not displayed any negative behaviour or body language towards any dogs, humans, other animals, etc inside or outside the home since being fostered. Though she cannot be rehomed with cats, as she does have a moderate prey drive. She has shown some uncertainty in dogs reacting at her while out on a walk, but engaging with her and reassuring her with direction and treats helps to ease her anxieties. Jessie also shows a little interest in children, though is more reserved with her excitement around them. She would still have to be managed around any children in the home though, as she is a big dog.
She will need continuation of training in the new home, depending on her new owners preferences of behaviour. We would be happy to help with this, free of charge.

All she really needs is someone to love her unconditionally and help her through life, and she will definitely return the favour. If you think you may be able to offer this gorgeous girl a place in your heart, we would love to hear from you. And don't worry, we don't need you to have a garden or fence 😅 She would also make a fantastic hunting dog, or running partner, if anyone is looking for that.

Thank you, let's hope we can find Jessie a fantastic home! If you have any other questions, please get in touch. If you could also share this to reach a wider community, that would be very much appreciated.

Good afternoon everyone! I know, we haven't posted too much recently. But this one is a very big one! Now it might be hard for some to hear, which is completely understandable. However, it needs to be said. And that is this:

"There will always be people who dislike animals, even to the point of harming them."

It's a horrific truth, but one I've come across this morning. While out and about I have seen snail bait and poison on pavements, possibly from people's gardens. I know that a neighbour of ours has snail bait down to kill cats roaming on his garden. It's horrendous. SNAIL BAIT HAS NO ANTIDOTE, THIS IS WHY THEY CHOOSE IT. If your pet is suddenly lethargic, weak, vomiting, salivating a lot, unsteady on their feet, etc. GET THEM TO THE VET ASAP. If the vomit is completely green, you can be almost positive that your pet has been poisoned with snail bait.

Please, if you have outdoor cats, keep them inside. If you have your dog off lead at any time, please make sure you have your eye on them at all times, and that they have good recall. No one wants to be losing their pets. Thank you.

Good afternoon all you dapper people! I hope we all had some great holidays, whatever or however you celebrate!

Just a quick update for you this morning, our recent foster dog Mr. Winston, has found his new forever home in Leicester. I'm so happy for him, and his new family, they love each other already. They had come to meet him several times before making the decision to take him home, and they filled out all the necessary paperwork for us to do background checks and carry out home checks. They met all criteria needed, mainly just loving him 🥰

With that, we have also rescued another dog from a local kennels who is now in temporary foster. More details will be given on her at a later date, she is nowhere near ready for adoption. Understandably, as she was malnourished, severely underweight, dehydrated, and traumatised from being aggressed at and attacked by other dogs. What we do know, is she was a stray before going to that kennels for ~3 months, and she's around 4 years old. She's also called Jessie. More information to come as she opens up and becomes more confident and happy.

We couldn't do this without all your support. So we thank you! If you could make a donation towards Jessie, it would be appreciated, but I do understand that times are tough for everyone out there at the moment. Even just a share could help us out.

We do also have exciting news underway, but I can't spill any details on that just yet (but get ready, it's good!). I'm hoping that this will be announced within 6 months 🤞

Again, we THANK YOU for your support, this wouldn't be possible otherwise. Please keep sharing, liking, commenting, anything helps us. We would appreciate any donations, even pennies help. These donations would go into fostering or helping more pets, helping those struggling to feed or vet their pets, and helping the business blossom into something hopefully big so we can open our own shelter. That's the dream.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, to all the Dapper people out there! 🎄✨️

I thought as tomorrow is the big day, and since I'll be taking a week off social media, I'd share this that I found. Foods around Christmas may be yummy to us, but to dogs, some can be lethal. Make sure to keep your dogs away from food, and give them a quiet safe space if you're having guests.

Have the very best Holidays, I'll see you in the new year 🎊

09/12/2022

Good afternoon all you dapper people!

We only have 2 weeks left until Christmas! ✨️🎄✨️
Have you got your pets presents ready? Do you have a plan for them on the big day? Are they ready to be around your whole family and food? Are you able to put your presents under the tree without them being ripped apart?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then absolutely fantastic work! Keep it up 😊

If not, don't worry, we will keep working until we get there. If you need any help, or quick tips on what to train around the holidays, send me a message.

Remember, you have to srt your dog up for success, or they WILL fail. No food left unattended. Teach leave it or drop it. Make sure they have a safe space to go where they can be alone. Use place or crate training and big treats to your advantage.

I'll be showing you all what we have done to prepare our dogs for the holidays, I'd love to see your progress too!🥰

Good afternoon you Dapper People!

Meet Biggie, the 12 year old male German Shepherd. He is a new sitting client of ours, his care includes 2 walks daily. Unfortunately Biggie has some issues with his spine and back legs, causing him to be unsteady (he is not in pain). Please note, I never take my eyes off him, and walks are no longer than 30 minutes. This is his afternoon walk, the first time being on a long line. He did absolutely amazingly, and loved the new found freedom of the long line. His Dad usually keeps him on a standard lead when walking, due to his rear end, and him being reactive. This is why I am taking him out on long line walks when I can, and when his legs permit. He has shown progress in his reactivity since joining me on long line walks, and can ignore other dogs now if they're far enough away. He still does not want other dogs any closer than 10m, however, will look to me if they do get close, since I've asked him to make eye contact with me if he's uncomfortable so we can make some more space. His Dad has seen improvements while out walking too, so would like me to continue with, and teach him how to use a long line.

If you would like to learn how to properly and effectively use and train on a long line, drop us a message. If you'd like your dog to join us for adventures, especially since I specialise in walking reactive dogs, please get in touch. There will be a post tomorrow in our advice group about long lines, I hope to see you there!

Good afternoon you dapper people!

We have a very special announcement today, and that is we have a dog available for adoption. He is a Chihuahua x Border Terrier. He is currently still living with his owners, under our full care. He is walked and groomed by us, and he is halfway through a training plan currently. We are also helping them with his food and care costs (flea, worm, supplements). He is fully vaccinated, but not neutered (this will need to be done by adopter if not done by us before adoption).

His current owners unfortunately cannot keep him due to a change in circumstances and the cost of living. He is sociable with almost any animals (has been cat tested, friendly, has been dog tested, friendly, unsure of some, but confidence and encouragement from his human helps him).
He's a sweet natured boy, but is quite needy and has mild separation anxiety (we're working on this). He walks well on lead, and loves to sniff on walks. He is crate trained, toilet trained (may need a refresher in new home), knows sit, down, paw, and wait. Knows to wait at curbs for handler to give permission to cross streets.

If you'd like more information about this little boy, please get in touch. We would much prefer to do his adoption through us, as he would not be okay in a shelter. Thank you for reading, hopefully we can find this boy a home 😍

Good evening you Dapper People! As I announced earlier, I have created a group for advice, tips and more. It would be absolutely fantastic to see all of you and your friends there! 😀

The first post about mental enrichment for dogs is now up, and it would be amazing to see some photos and videos of your dogs enjoying themselves. I personally use the cardboard box idea almost daily, as well as training in 10 minute intervals throughout the day. The sniffari walks have been great at helping Ameerah with her fear too, she's become much less reactive as a result.

I hope to see you and your pets over there, and I'm so happy to be a part of making all our pets lives more fulfilling and rewarding 🥰

Good morning you dapper people! I apologise for this not coming earlier, the scheduled post didn't work. However, we did have some fantastic entries into our fancy dress competition. We unfortunately didn't have any entries into the best trick, which means those prizes will be void. But let's get onto our winners of the fancy dress shall we?

First up, we have Archie. He dressed as a cute little devil, though that's the opposite of his personality. He wins some free training! 😍

Second, from the same household is Ella. She also dressed as a sweet little devil, but this time it matches her personality. 😂 She wins a free full groom!

Next up is Luna. She's not too much a fan of wearing things, though she did look really cute in her spooky bandana. She wins some free training.

Next is Missy. I loved her batman jumper, I was honestly surprised we got a dressed up cat. She wins a free full groom.

Now we have Spud. He was a beautiful pumpkin, and surprisingly, he loves that costume. He wins free walks.

Last but not least, Ameerah. She looked great in her spider costume, and that glare from the camera flash is perfect in her eyes. It suits her too, because she loves to creep around 🤣 She wins free walks.

We don't have a winner of the treats and toys, as we didn't have too many entrants. Therefore I have decided that each entrant will get a smaller box of treats and toys alongside what they've already won! 🥰 (if we have allergies or sensitivities, please let me know ASAP).

Thank you to everyone who participated, we loved seeing your photos, and can't wait to do something like this again. (We may already be planning Christmas).

Photo 4 shows Ella, a Lakeland Terrier x Patterdale Terrier wearing a devil costume. Photo 5 shows Archie, a Jack Russel Terrier x Toy Poodle wearing a devil costume. Photo 6 shows Missy, a domestic semi-longhair cat wearing a batman costume.)

Good afternoon you dapper people! Here I have the two first recorded walks for my 100km dog walk for SANDS. While I know I'm behind, I also know I can easily catch up. I've done a lot more walking than this, I just keep forgetting to record it.
There's still some available slots left for charity walks if you're interested!

Good afternoon you dapper people!

So I have a few questions to ask you all, and a favour. Firstly, the questions. Are you, or do you know someone, who has a pet and is struggling with the cost of living? Have you, or the person you know, asked for help? Would you know where to go and who to contact if you needed help? Have you, or anyone in your life, had to rehome a beloved pet due to financial difficulties? Would you like easy access to financial assistance in this time of need? Can we work together to create something beautiful?

I'm asking these questions as the Dapper Paws team have struggled previously due to the cost of living and disabilities. This could easily have forced us into rehoming our pets, for their sake. We were however, thankfully able to keep them safe, happy and healthy throughout tough times thanks to family and friends helping out. We would like to offer this assistance to other people struggling out there. We do not want to see a rise in homeless pets, we do not want families separated due to something as trivial as money. We would like to provide information for all pet owners and animal lovers on the best (value) nutrition or diet, cheap and easy ways to keep pets stimulated both mentally and physically, free advice on grooming, training and building an unbreakable bond with your pet, alongside discounted prices for Dapper Paws services on dates specified.

Because we want to keep families together; pets in their homes, with full bellies and warm snuggle spots, we have decided to start a fundraising pot. We will be adding to this whenever possible, to hopefully assist as many of those struggling as possible. We ask that you could do the same, even if it's a couple pennies each week, it all adds up to help a pet in need. The amount in this pot will be public, as it is for the public. The holding place will unfortunately be kept private and the pot will not be accessed by anyone other than the Dapper Paws team for security reasons. Though if you need help, just ask, absolutely no judgement. This will only be available to people in Stocksbridge, Deepcar and surrounding areas for the moment, but we would like to increase our catchment area as far and wide as possible in the future.

Please, if you have any questions or concerns, let us know. If you're struggling to feed or vet treat your pet right now, please get in contact and we shall see what we can do! No animal or family should suffer at the hands of greedy government. Come and be a part of the revolution today by making Stocksbridge the community everyone hopes for.

Good afternoon you dapper people! 😉

We have a good one today for you. And that is I am now enrolled in Will Athertons Acedemy for dog training and canine behaviour! This has been in the running for a while, and I have done many, many courses over the past months, to learn as much as possible. I have been enrolled in Victoria Stillwell's Academy, Tug-e-Nuff, Dr Amy Cooper's play way, WKD Dogs Reactivity Masterclass and absoluteDOGS, alongside learning from Raven K9 Dog training, Lottie Bennett, Dr Amy Cooper, Victoria Stillwell, thepositivechihuahuas, pawsitivepupsacademy, etc.

While I now have extensive knowledge of the canine brain, I am always learning, adapting, and keeping up to date on the science of canine learning. While I am enrolled in Will Atherton's academy I will be learning about training dogs effectively using all four operant conditioning quadrants. I will be learning how to help owners understand the why behind behaviour, as well as the what. I will understand canine behaviour, and behaviour modification. I cannot wait to put all my knowledge into practice.

Now here comes the most exciting part, due to the course materials and expectations, I will be offering free training sessions for the first 50 people to get in touch. The sessions will be split into a 15 minute consultation, and an hours training. If you would then like to continue expanding your knowledge, we can have a conversation about a plan for your dog moving forwards, plus costs. (I understand the cost of living crisis at the moment, and if you're having difficulties financially but still want to continue working with me, let me know and we will work something out 😁 no judgement).

I would also like to add that any dog who is under the responsibility of Dapper Paws, eg, grooming, walking, sitting, will also be provided with low level training that owners can build upon either alone, working with me, or just on advice from me. Whichever way you may decide, you will always have 24/7 support via messenger or WhatsApp. I am also insured for walking your dogs via Tailster.

I am thrilled to offer this opportunity, for my personal growth, and for the growth of dogs, owners and the relationship between them. This definitely would not have happened so quickly if it wasn't for our clients, so thank you very, very much all of you.

To kick-start the process of the free sessions, get in touch via messenger or WhatsApp, with your name, mobile number, email, dogs name, age, breed, and a little about the behaviour you want to change (we will go in depth in the 15 minute consultation). I am so excited to work with you and your dogs! 🥰

Good morning!

I hope you're all as excited for part 2 of this announcement as we are 😁

As you all know, I will be walking 100km in September to fundraise for SANDS. Because of this, there will be a fantastic deal throughout the month of September.
This deal is an hour walk, with training of your choice, for just £20!
25% of all proceeds will go to aid the work of SANDS. 😊

I hope as many people can get involved as possible, as I know the cost of living crisis is hitting many families hard at the minute. I want to provide as much as I can for the price, for owners to benefit as much as possible from their money. I am also able to provide grooming advice, some canine nutrition information, and other training advice upon request during the consultation. This consultation will be free up to 15 minutes.

I'm so excited to get walking with so many different friends. Slots are booking up already, so get in touch ASAP! 😊

Thank you all, we wouldn't be able to do this without you.

Good afternoon, you dapper people! 😊

We have a really special announcement today, and it's in 2 parts, so be sure to check in tomorrow for the other half 🤫😏

I would like to let you all know, I'm going to be walking 100km in September for SANDS, the charity that helps save babies lives, and supports bereaved parents. It is a charity that I support fully, as pregnancy and child loss is absolutely devastating. It's something a lot of people I know have been through, and it's potentially one of the hardest things to go through as a couple. This is why SANDS is there, to help, support and provide essential services for those bereaved or going through grief due to child or pregnancy loss.

I ask for your support, and if you could donate, that would be amazing. Even just £1 helps. If you cannot donate, I understand. If you could share instead to get the word out, I would appreciate it ☺️

Thank you all, I hope you're excited for part 2 of this announcement tomorrow! I know I am 🤭

Good afternoon, you dapper people 😁

Today's announcement is something that's been in the works for a while, very exciting!

Say hello and congratulations to our new manager(s) of grooming, Chloe Molyneux! (And her dog Spud 😍). Not only is she fantastic with the dogs, she also has a natural talent for grooming. She has full training by me, and I'm fully confident in her abilities. Not only that, but there's also new pricing, as well as a discount for new clients. Please get in touch via the page if you'd like more information.

You will start seeing posts by Chloe of the Dapper Paws that come here for a spa day, as well as my posts about everything else.

Thank you all, it couldn't have happened without our clients 🥰 I can't wait to see what you can all help us achieve in the future!

I had the pleasure of grooming this little sweetheart yesterday. He was very nervous as he's still quite young, but he did really well, and he's going to be coming to me hopefully for the rest of his life, so he will definitely get better over time.

He had a full groom, which includes, body shaved and tidied, nails cut, paw pads tidied, a**l glands checked, and ears cleaned, all while keeping him as comfortable with the process as possible. All of that only cost his mum a whopping £10.

Give me a message today if you'd like to book, and let me know the size or weight of your dog for a quote! 😊

I forgot to take before photos for these 2 cuties, but i'm sure you can imagine with them both having curly coats 😅 They clean up really well!

Ella (left) and Archie (right) both had full grooms, including nails, a**l glands and a full tidy up. They both got their sanitary areas done, since both are known for getting 'cling-ons'. I've seen them 2 weeks on from this groom and both are still doing well, but will need trimming again at least twice before Christmas.

Today I had the pleasure of grooming Bailey the Shih Tzu. He started out very timid, not wanting me to touch him much. But after my patience, and not pushing him beyond his limits, you can see how much his demeanour changed towards me. We are now best friends, and I can't wait to groom him again 🥰

He had a bit of a brush, deshed, clipper groom, and tidy up with scissors. He wouldn't let me shave his paw pads or clean up his face or go near his bum 🤣 but we will get there eventually.

29/06/2021

Due to the warm weather this year, I'm now offering a £10 summer cut for any dog, or £15 undercoat deshed for those double coated babies in our lives 🥰
