🐾 BOOKS CURRENTLY OPEN FOR… 🐾

If you’ve been meaning to get in touch, this is your sign šŸ‘€ I’ve currently got some availability for…

šŸ• SOLO WALKS
one to one time, with the walk completely tailored around your dog. Perfect for nervous or reactive dogs, dogs who need their own space, or those who simply enjoy exploring solo…

🧠 TRAINING WALKS

More than just getting the steps in! Training walks are for working on the things that make everyday walks that little bit harder. Lead pulling, recall, engagement, confidence, reactivity, distractions and more. We train, we sniff, we have fun and your dog still comes home ready for a nap.

šŸŽ“ ONE TO ONE TRAINING PACKAGES

Because most training problems don’t magically disappear after one session.

We start by looking at what’s actually going on, what you want to achieve and what’s realistic for your dog. From there we put a plan together and actually work through it.

Packages can cover things like reactivity, recall, loose lead walking, confidence building, barking, over-arousal and general everyday struggles, with follow-up sessions and/or training walks depending on what you and your dog need.

No chucking 400 pieces of information at you in an hour and sending you on your merry way šŸ˜‚

šŸ” DROP INS

Not every one would like a walk! Drop ins can be used for toilet breaks, feeding, medication, play, enrichment or simply some company. Also available for puppies, cats and nervous dogs who might need a bit of time to get to know me first.

šŸ  DOG SITTING

Fully booked for dog sits until 2027! āœ‹ šŸ›‘

Absolutely mad and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s trusted me with their pets ā¤ļø

šŸŽŖ AND COMING VERY SOON… ONE TO ONE TRICK TRAINING!

Something I’ve wanted to offer for ages šŸ‘€
And Probably one of my favourite things to teach šŸ˜€

Trick training isn’t just about teaching your dog something cool to show off (although obviously that’s part of the fun šŸ˜‚). It’s brilliant for confidence, problem solving, focus and giving busy brains something to actually think about.

I hold an Expert Trick Dog Title, through ā€œDo More With Your Dogā€, and I’m really excited to start offering one to one sessions for anyone who fancies doing something a little different with their dog.

From useful skills to completely pointless party tricks… if it’s fun, I’m here for it šŸ˜‚

ā˜€ļø A little favour from a small business.

If I message to say it’s too hot for a walk, please don’t think I’m trying to get out of work.

The truth is, cancelling walks costs me money.

But I started this business because I love dogs, not because I wanted to make money at their expense.

If it’s too hot, I’ll always tell you.

The good news is, there are loads of other things I can do instead.

A toilet break, a welfare visit, some garden games, enrichment, feeding, or moving the walk to a cooler time if I can.

So if the weather turns, don’t disappear until tomorrow.

Drop me a message.

Chances are, I can still help your dog and you can still support my little business at the same time.

It’s a win for everyone. Especially the dogs. 🐾

🐾 Struggling to cut your dog’s nails? Read this…

One of the biggest myths I hear is…

ā€œThey’ll wear them down on walks.ā€

Sometimes they will.

But not every dog spends their life walking pavements.

Loads of dogs walk on grass, woodland or softer ground. Some are reactive and you’re avoiding busy streets while you work through a training plan. Some are older, recovering from an injury, or just aren’t doing enough road walking to naturally keep their nails short.

So now you’ve got a dog with long nails…

Who also thinks having their feet touched is the worst thing in the world.

Instead of turning nail cutting into World War Three, change the game.

This is a scratch board.

Literally just the correct grit sandpaper attached to a clipboard. In this case (border collie) it’s 80 grit. Held at an angle.

I teach the dog to scratch the board using positive reinforcement, and every scratch naturally files a tiny bit off the front nails. No forcing. No pinning them down. No making nail day something they dread.

Does it replace handling training? Absolutely not.

Every dog should still learn that having their paws handled is safe. That’s an important skill for vets, groomers and everyday life.

But while you’re building that confidence, this is a brilliant way to keep nails at a comfortable length without adding unnecessary stress.

The biggest win isn’t the shorter nails. It’s seeing the dog come back for another go. 🐾

🐾 Saturday Challenge

This week’s challenge…

Can you get your dog’s attention 10 times on one walk?

Use whatever attention cue you normally use.

Not food waved in front of their nose.

Not repeating yourself over and over.

Just ask for their attention once.

The moment they look at you, tell them they’re brilliant and reward them.

Then let them go straight back to sniffing and exploring

That’s the important bit.

You don’t want checking in with you to mean the fun stops.

You want your dog to think, ā€œIt’s worth seeing what they’re after.ā€

Reward them, then let them carry on exploring.

Do that 10 times over the course of your walk.

Let me know how you get on!! 🐾

Things I hear every week as a Dog Trainer …

ā€œHe’s just stubborn.ā€

I hear this all the time.

But most dogs aren’t stubborn.

If your dog can sit perfectly in your kitchen but suddenly can’t do it in the park, they haven’t decided to be awkward.

The park is just harder.

Imagine trying to revise for an exam in the middle of a football match. That’s what we’re asking some dogs to do.

There are smells everywhere. Dogs running about. Kids. Birds. Squirrels. People. Everything is competing for their attention.

A lot of Guardians think their dog ā€œknows itā€ because they can do it at home.

Home doesn’t count.

That’s the easiest place they’ll ever do it.

The real training starts when you leave the house.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is guardians making the jump too quickly.

Kitchen āž”ļø Garden āž”ļø Quiet street āž”ļø Empty field āž”ļø Busy park.

That’s how dogs learn.

Kitchen āž”ļø Busy park.

That’s how dogs get confused.

Every new environment is like starting again. They don’t need telling off. They need helping through it.

So before saying your dog’s ignoring you, ask yourself…

Have they actually learnt it in this environment?

Or have I skipped 10 steps without realising?

That’s usually where the problem is.

Not because you’ve got a stubborn dog.

Because you’ve got a normal one. 🐾
