Saturday was all about adapting!

It was a lovely sunny day, but with the beautiful blue skys came some frosty ground so the original plan went out the window; but we still had a great time, shorter trails with a decoy, and no intensity endings, it really challenged the dogs and gave the handlers lots to think about and work on. By afternoon there was less ice but more mud so we followed a similar plan which again worked beautifully.

Well done to everyone!

Huge thank you to Round Chimneys Farm for having us the amazing breakfast/ lunch / coffee / cake was very welcome!

A little behind on update on here but we have had some excellent trailing over the last couple of weeks from our teams, the British weather keeps it interesting and keeps us on our toes for sure.

A small break over Xmas now but with a scent competition Watercombe Dogs on 27th and our last trail for 2024 on 30th, there is still plenty to do in 2024.

Exciting times ahead with new workshop style sessions and new All Season Passports for recording all that we do.

A huge thank you from me to all who have joined us this year. Whether the next few days will be busy or quiet, your favourite or your least favourite, I sincerely hope you and your dogs have a lovely time. 😍🐶

We had a wonderful morning today, the session today was focused on long trails. 4 Teams worked the longest trails they have ever done, it was amazing to see them work through a new and different. We also had Team Ruby who are not yet ready for the long trails however today we saw Rubys confidence with trailing go through the roof. Ruby is lovely and can worry that people may have a dog with them, meaning she is hesitant when trailing, not today Ruby was ok the trail focused and straight into her misper. As an instructor nothing makes my heart sing more.

Huge congratulations to all today’s teams.

Meet Monty!

Monty is a very enthusiastic young Labrador who loves the world. What better way to channel that energy than mantrailing, he gets to find a human and use his strongest sense, they are waiting just for him and they have food pots…. Every young labradors dream!

What a week we have had.

Wednesday trailers joined in a village coffee morning as well as working next to a busy river which adds complexity to their trails.
Saturday morning was a little damp and foggy but didn’t stop our all seasons teams working in the woods.
Sunday morning for a complete change of pace 4 teams took to a local town centre for a very different kind of challenge.

Well done everyone some super progress this week!

Wow what a day!
We were graced with not only a fabulous location but also wonderful weather.

This morning was our first half day decoy session and it’s fair to say it was a roaring success, with decoys there are so many variable, hidden, obvious, different points on the trail, did the walk out together, who went first, did the trails split, did the walk parallel and cross ….

Huge well done to all six team : Teams Teddy, Buddy, Teg, Elsie, Chilli and Toby!

Not to be out done this afternoon we work on indications with Teams Pippin, Ruby, Milo and Daisy.
These dogs caught on quick and we had some beautiful indications all round.

A massive thank you to today extra mispers who helped out on the decoy session and the biggest of thankyous to Sculpture by the Lakes for having us.

If anyone local hasn’t visited this venue it’s the most stunning place annnnd it’s dog friendly!

Big lack of updates lately sorry about that we have just been super busy with all things sniffs.

New beginner scent class Watercombe Dogs on Thursday afternoons, just two weeks in and the teams are doing great.

Some beautiful trailing in various locations across Dorset with some real progress across so many teams

Watercombe Dogs Nosework games at the end of October, where the dogs simply blew us away.

Then today we kicked off with a Kong workshop and then introduced 6 new teams to Mantrailing, a wide variety of breeds and backgrounds but all the dogs took to the game so we hope to welcome them soon to our progression sessions. These fab teams can be seen in the pictures here.

Very delayed update from last weekend.

Saturday we spent the day at Round Chimneys Farm, despite rain when we arrived it quickly cleared to give us a fab trailing day powered by coffee cake and other delicious offerings from there cafe. 9 teams working super hard in a farm environment with plenty of distractions to ignore.

Sunday was off to Devon for dog first aid with Allwinds Dog First Aid. A fantastic day with lots of information advice and support, which may have caused the day to be a little longer than expected but you can’t argue with more important knowledge being shared!

Sunday was not the loveliest of weathers but that doesn’t stop us.

We welcomed back Team Hettie who have had a year off trailing, Hettie was thrilled to be back and smashed her trails even when they took her inside a local toy shop!

8 other teams equally worked there paws off with mixed weather in a busy location with lots of contamination!

Well done teams

This location is nearly always windy making some challenging trails from the start.
Team Chilli worked on decoys/ mispers and when to indicate
Team Pippin had his first aged trail, and reinforcements that indication
Team Odie cemented his indication and worked around some big distractions
Team Callen got her nose in the game and showed some beautiful trailing behaviours

Well done all

What a weekend!

Yesterday we attend paws around the park at sculpturebythelakes, a fabulous day where we got to meet some fantastic dogs and owners!

Today mantrailing in a busy rural location unfortunately the afternoon group only managed half a session before the weather turned very unpleasant and we called it a day.
Some fabulous work from all our teams, we covered tricky starts, junction work, building confidence and much more. We had a huge range of experience on the trail today but each trail is set according to the dog and that teams goals and progress ensuring everyone had a great day!

Ps. I’m often asked if the dog will remember if they have had some time off, one of todays teams hadn’t trailed for a year they came back today and it was as if they trailed last week!
So don’t think ‘it’s been too long!’
