The Robin Hood family are very sad that former stray kitty Biscuits has passed to Rainbow bridge.
He picked a wonderful family to be his guardians and has truly turned them into kitty lovers.
Farewell beautiful Biscuits
(Photo of a blood pressure check a few days ago.
He was being very good and calm - model patient
Photo removed because people were upset by it; perhaps thinking it was a photo of him very unwell, it wasn't. He was just having his blood pressure taken.)

🌈 Sadly, Boris (previously known as Kitkat) one of our long-term fosters, crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday after a battle with kidney failure. Boris came to us in 2020 and had shown strength and courage through a variety of health issues (bowel disease and an unusual strain of long term calicivirus), treated and controlled through medication and diet over the last 4 years. This wouldn’t have been possible without generous donations from our amazing supporters. RIP Boris, you touched so many of our hearts with your sweet and gentle soul, you will be terribly missed but we know you’re at peace now. 🌈

UPDATE
Kitty is now in our care.
Vets tomorrow.
Thank you everyone for making this possible.
The family situation is a very difficult one and they seem genuine but struggling to meet her needs due to changes in circumstances.
Thank you for all your support

We need your help...
Unusual one but we are stuck and need some πŸ’° which we hate to ask for but not sure what else to do...

There's a Posh Kitty that we have had lots of local people contact us about. Looks in reasonable health but is on the street most of the day and night. Has ZERO road sense and frequently will sit in the middle of the road even if a car goes right up to them.

With support from neighbours we have managed to find out more info. Family have young children, recently moved house, sounds like the kitty is safer away from the children but at high risk of being hit by a car and no where safe for them to roam. The street often has cars going at speed.

Also a breed which would benefit from special knowledge and care and grooming.

The owners are looking to re-home this little one which is good news; but are wanting some of the cost of their pedigree purchase back (no negative comments please as we all have views and we are trying to prioritise kitty and their future without judgement... It's difficult but we don't want to scupper any plans to get this one safe).

The rescue is very very low on funds right now and what we have is already committed to vet bills pending for injured and poorly cats but we would really like to raise some money to help get this one away from traffic as they have no road sense at all.

Any help either personally or with fund raising ideas please help - here's how to get the money to us:

PayPal friend and family payment "Fluffles"
[email protected]

Bank Account (rescue account is in volunteers name to prevent bank charges every month)
"Fluffles"
Text for bank details 07785361477

Cash - text 07785861477 with "Fluffles" and we can arrange drop off or collection of πŸ’° money

Thank you 😻😻😻😻😻😻

Now that the weather has finally picked up, please now be more cautious for our furry loved ones!.. Please see the guidance below

24/06/2024

Remember, if it’s too hot for your hands or your bare feet, then it’s too hot for their paw pads! ⚠️

If you’re unsure whether it’s okay to let your pet go for a walk on pavements, a simple way to test the temperature is by holding your bare skin on the tarmac for five seconds ⏱️

If you find it painful, then your pet will find it painful to walk on!

To protect your pet, it’s best to avoid walks during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between 8am and 6pm. If you can't safely exercise your dog, missing a day won't hurt.

[Visual description: A close-up picture of a dog’s paw pad which looks very red and sore after being burnt from walking on a hot pavement.]

Day 1 of my three new cat pictures - or maybe 4 (it was meant to be 4 but they've taken a long time).

In the past I've found it hard to paint cats as when I research them, it comes up with a lot of pictures showing half eaten birds too and then I get upset. But I've found ways to look up lots of cat pictures now without that so it was all good this week. And I've learnt so much.

I spent an evening just sketching different shapes, learning their noses, their ears, their cheeks, how short their toes were.
I learnt too that 99% of pictures involve a cat sitting, sleeping or waiting to be fed.

I started with these two cats though as I wanted to surprise my son's girlfriend. She is 100% a cat person and when she first visited here was scared of both Bella and the donkeys. But she's got to love them and so I'm trying to reciprocate. Especially in this picture. The one on the left is her cat that's at home and whom she misses whilst at uni. The one on the right is her beautiful cat that she lost a few years ago. I liked the idea of these two creatures who love (and loved) her so much, cuddling up together.

The words are, of course, by J R R Tolkien.

Have a lovely Saturday and I'll be back tomorrow with the second picture which gives more than a gentle nod to Gustav Klimt.

Rosie's two kittens were whisked to the vets.
They were not doing too well and one of them was low weight.
Both had a temperature.
Injection and medicine to get them back on track.
They are on the expensive recovery food and back with mum 😻😻.

As it's the 10th anniversary of All Creatures Vets we have named them after the vets Harmony & Erica 😻😻.

If you can spare a few pounds as a one off or regular donation, our kitties really appreciate the difference you make for them 😻

We've had some fabulous food donations.
The kitties are very grateful and will gobble them up... Thank you

Meanwhile lots more vets visits...
We offer a forever safe long term foster to Friar Tuck; he has a devoted foster family who treat him like a πŸ‘‘ king.
FIV+ with recurring health issues.
We rushed him to vet yesterday with high temperature & off his food which is part of his poorly pattern.
Injection and medicine to get him back on track.
And the towel because he's very grumpy when he's poorly 🐾😿 and it's the safest way for us to hold him whilst the vet injectπŸ™€πŸ’‰.

Poorly kittens...
It's been really full on with kitten care, vet visits, extra feeding, medicines etc. πŸ™€πŸ™€πŸ™€πŸ™€πŸ™€
Please help with vets bills and special food.

Firstly we had the tabby kittens and mum who had a blood infection.
All needed medication and recovery food.
Unfortunately one of the tabby kittens had a secondary issue with their diaphragm, and despite getting her back to the vets daily, she didn't make it 😿.
The remaining 3 tabby kittens are doing well and 2 of them are reserved. 😻

Then we are concerned for Penny's kittens as despite her feeding them they are constantly hungry. 🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
Turns out not all of Penny's ni***es are functioning as intended.
Extra milk formula for the 5 kittens and they are getting through at least 3 cans of recovery food a day.
They also have some congestion and are on antibiotics.
Plus Sixpence has an eye infection too.

Meanwhile Fred our little black beauty has a poorly eye so he went off to the vets. πŸ™€

Then one of Uki's kittens Podkin is lethargic & anaemic... Not interested in the mother & baby pate. Currently being syringe fed formula and we will try the recovery food also.

We are getting through lots of extra:
Mother & baby pate
Recovery pate
Formula kitten milk.

25/03/2024

Boris - one of our very special elderly long term fosters since 2020 - has suffered from chronic inflammatory bowel disease, inflammation and fluid build up in the gut and severe dehydration and gum inflammation/disease, which has affected his dental health extremely, rotting the majority of his teeth away. Finding the root cause of this has been a difficult journey and the wonderful team at All Creatures Veterinary Centre have shown their commitment to the cats in their care by doing their best to get to the bottom of this. Sadly, Boris was diagnosed with chronic/severe calicivirus 2 weeks ago and will require lengthy, experimental and complicated treatment, as chronic calicivirus is rare. So far, Boris has had the remaining 4 teeth he had left removed and has been on a course of Virbagen Omega 10 MU injections to help manage the symptoms of the calicivirus. On top of this, Boris has been prescribed probiotics, antibiotics and painkillers. If Boris’s chronic bowel disease cannot be alleviated by his prescription low fibre diet, then the next steps will be to attempt further experimental treatment called a faecal transplant. Firstly, we’d like to use this post to raise awareness around the importance of vaccinations for cats. The reason why Boris’s diagnosis is so rare is because it is preventable, as vaccinations against calicivirus (cat flu) are part of the standard vaccionations given by vets and protect cats against catching calicivirus, which if caught often clears itself after a short bout of flu symptoms. We kindly urge our lovely supporters to keep up with your cat’s vaccinations, had Boris had had these throughout his life, he may not have been so poorly now. Secondly, as our lovely supporters can see through this post, Boris’s treatment will cost a lot and we are asking if you could donate towards his ongoing treatment, we always appreciate any donations every Β£1 will make a difference and we are forever grateful for your help 😻 To donate:

MARCH MADNESS
Crazy number of mum cats and kittens arrived in March.
Penny with 5 kittens
Rosie pregnant and gave birth to 4 kittens
4 kittens arrived and we reunited them with their pregnant mum 2 days later
Uki with 5 kittens

On Thursday i was worried about kitten Taff who was lethargic & very hot to touch...
Off to vet urgently...
2 injections and blood tests
I asked the volunteers to be extra vigilant...
Friday Tiff & Taff rushed to the vets...
2 injections for Taff
Today i took the whole crew, pregnant mum Tabitha, Tiff, Taff, Tinker & Toodles.
Β£300 so far and going back Wednesday...

The vets think mum has blood born infection which she's passed on to the kittens.

They are on extra formula milk and recovery food, cool mat and TLC.
Taff has also sprained his ankle 😿

If anyone is able to help a little with the vet bill, or some of their food bill please check below

Up Close with the Kitties

Today i collected this girl.
Long term stray.
She's a long haired cat but her coat is in a bad way. I think she has a flea allergy.
She's now got a heated bed and I've left her for a bit to settle in to her kitty pad.
She's tucking into her food 😻.
Not sure if she might be pregnant πŸ€”
Robin Hood Cats Rescue Nottingham will be looking after her.
Assessing her health.
Finding out how she is with other kitties.
And eventually finding her a furever home 🏑
For now she's not up for adoption whilst we work on those things with her...
We've called her Gizzella (with a French accent)
