We desperately need help to get these rabbits to SRR foster homes. They currently are living in unsuitably small housing so it’s urgent.

Sanctuary highlight 💫

Mr Frankie Saaaaaaaavage has been around quite a while now. He came in with Fleur after their owner couldn’t look after them. We didn’t realise just how much of an attitude this tiny rabbit had! We patiently worked with Frankie for 9 months before we decided they’d stay as sanctuary rabbits due to his exceptional behavioural issues. He quickly earnt the title ‘Mr Frankie savage’ and is often bad rabbit of the week here at SRR 🤣 we bonded them into a group which proved to help Frankie’s behaviour so much, but he can still be very aggressive especially towards people he doesn’t know.
This pocket rocket of a rabbit comes with a warning label. Frankie also has stepped teeth and will be visiting the vet soon to see if it’s time for a dental.

Could you help pay towards a vaccine for Mr Savage? We are currently trying to raise £2,000 to ensure all of the sanctuary rabbits receive their booster vaccinations and that all SRR rabbits receive the new vaccine to protect against the new strain of VHD2.

Sanctuary highlight 💫

Honey has been with us for just over 2 years now, but she wasn’t the reason her and nibbles came to SRR - it was little nibs. Honey has had a head tilt long before she came to us and she’d been perfectly fine until December 2023. Hon developed mobility issues with one of her back legs so we quickly started diagnostics to see what was going on, of course everyone’s first thought was EC (which is what we believed for a while). Honey has since had further blood testing for EC, toxoplasmosis, lead poising and 2 CT scans! Every test she’d had has not given us a diagnosis. The conclusion is that honey likely suffers a brain tumour but we can’t confirm this unless we do an MRI scan. The scan costs £4,500 (which we absolutely would have raised) but our vet didn’t see that this would lead to an outcome and would entirely be academic only, so we did not proceed on those grounds. Am MRI is a very prolonged GA and likely wouldn’t mix well with honey’s neurological symptoms.
Honey lives vary happily in a group of 17! We will continue to care for honey while she has a good quality of life, but this care is palliative.
We absolutely adore her and she’s an established member of the SRR gang, she terribly dislikes humans and much prefers her own species.

Could you help us pay for a vaccine for honey? We’re raising funds to cover booster vaccines for all sanctuary members as well as the new vaccine for all bunnies under SRR 🙏

‼️NOW ALL SORTED, THANK YOU ‼️

Unfortunately the aiveries never got collected so we had no choice but to ask our disposal company to take them down. Sadly, our guy suffered an injury over the weekend and wasn’t able to continue the job this morning so we need someone to come and take all of this down ASAP as the new build was suppose to be starting tomorrow!!!!! 😭😭😭 money waiting for anyone that can do this……

Pairs, pairs and more pairs.
We have so many pairs in rescue looking for homes. Do you have a single bun who’s looking for some new friends? Are you looking to add some more rabbits to your existing group? Or are you looking to become a bun parent?

It’s a lot harder to find homes for bonded pairs and they tend to stay in rescue much longer, sometimes years 😔

Don’t forget we offer a bonding service and still have some January availability left ❤️

Sanctuary rabbit highlight 💫

Spencer came to us in June last year along with 10 other rabbits. He was living inside a stuffy, dark shed in a tiny cage. He couldn’t stand up properly and there was very little room for him to move, this has lead to him being arthritic.
Spencer was caked in mites, his fur was dropping out in clumps and he was also diagnosed with ring worm. It was always evident that he was a poorly rabbit but nobody could quite figure out why, it got to the point he was admitted as an emergency due to his temperature exceeding 40 degrees which is dangeous levels. A massive lesion started to form on his stomach and he was diagnosed with Myxomatosis, he spent 10 days hospitalised.
Myxo is designed to kill rabbits, but we’d pulled Elijah out of it before and we knew we needed to try the same for Spencer, the chances for him were enhanced because he was vaccinated.

Fast forward to now, Spenny lives very happily with our group of 13. He’s adored by all of his bonded companions and loves to climb, though he’s not very good at it because of his arthritis!

Spencer proves exactly why vaccinating rabbits is vital and we are currently raising funds for booster vaccines and the new vaccine for all SRR residents. We have the Yurvac vaccination for the new strain of VHD2 on pre-order and it is scheduled to arrive this month.
We will be arranging vaccine clinics to vaccinate as many rabbits as possible in a short space of time, as once opened the multidose vaccine vials are only viable for a few hours.
Please email us on [email protected] to be included on the waiting list and we will contact you when the vaccine arrives.
We can offer vaccination to rabbit owners who aren't registered with us, but only if their registered vets are not planning to offer this vaccine and consent to us providing vaccination as a one-off service.

BONDING 🫂 BONDING 💕 BONDING 💑

Companionship of their own kind is one of the 5 core welfare requirements for rabbits, rabbits simply cannot communicate with us or other species because we don’t speak the same language! Having companions of their own kind is most beneficial to your rabbit and you won’t ever see them happier than when they have a friend or two.

The number 1 reason people have a lone rabbit is because the aspect of bonding worries them, and we get it. Bonding can be a minefield, so why not take that stress away and book in with us? Teah and I have bonded over 300 sets of rabbits in 2024 alone 👀

Whether you have a single rabbit and are looking to adopt from us, you’ve got a few rabbits and would like to add to your fluffle or you would like to bond rabbits you already have, we’ve got your back. We offer a bonding service to those adopting and to those who just need a hand to get their rabbits together 😊

Bonding should always be rabbit led, we can’t and shouldn’t force rabbits to be together that simply aren’t compatible and this is something we feel very strongly about. We only implement the 24/7 method because it is the most ethical way to bond.

We have bonding dates available in Jan and Feb, so please message us to enquire.

✨ PRICES ✨

If you are adopting a rabbit from us, the bonding fee is -
£100 up to 4 rabbits
£200 for 5 rabbits or more

If you aren’t adopting from us -

£320 quad
£400 5-6 rabbits

Sanctuary highlight 💫

Brooke came to us in June 2024 along with multiple other rabbits. When we saw her sat in her rusted, filthy cage, she had obvious
problems with her face that had gone untreated for a long time. Brooke has had far from a smooth ride, she was spayed in July which revealed her uterus was full of tumours, lab analysis proved these to be cancerous unfortunately. We closely monitor for any changes which could indicate spread and chest xray Brooke whenever the opportunity arises.
Not only this, but Brooke was found to have MRSA bacterial growth on her face sores in December, which she’s currently undergoing treatment for. We also found on X-rays what appears to be collapsed vertebrae in her back, which does explain her rigid movement and periodic falling over. Brooke will have a CT scan this year but we first need to get on top of the MRSA infection, she may then go on to have surgery for her spinal issues. Despite all of this, she’s most thrilled to have companionship, which is something she’d never had before. Brooke thrives in the company of her colony.

We’re currently raising funds to get booster vaccines, and the new vaccine, for all SRR residents. If you’d like to make a contribution towards Brooke’s vaccines, here’s the link 🙂👇

⭐️Blackberry and cracker ⭐️
These guys are still looking for a forever home to call their own. They would absolutely bond with other rabbits. They are looking for an outdoor home. Learn some more about them below in a write up from their foster mum, Grace ❤️

Blackberry and cracker are a lovely pair of rabbits, they are the ideal outdoor rabbits. They always come and see what you are doing, and will do anything for a tasty treat. Blackberry loves a cuddle and will let you pick him up and give him a good brush, cracker is abit more nervous, will come and see what’s going on and if a treat is involved but likes his own space. They both have so much personality and are both so loving is their own ways
