… and what a four years it’s been 🐾⁣
⁣
Four years ago I handed my notice in and left a full time job to become self employed and start Happy Paws. ⁣
Little did I know we were at the start of a global pandemic and a nationwide lockdown was around the corner. ⁣
⁣
But luckily for me every one decided to get puppies and Happy Paws went from strength to strength. ⁣
⁣
Four years down the line and I’m super proud of my little business. It’s not always easy being your own boss but working with all my lovely dogs and their owners makes all it all worth while (and the all the mud tolerable!)⁣

Why do I recommend using long lines ❓❓ ✅ Long lines are great management tool to use whilst your perfecting your recall. ✅ They give your dog freedom to roam safely. ✅ They prevent your dog rehearsing running off and ignoring you. My top tips for using a long line - ⭐️ Pick a Biothane or Rubber weave material. ⭐ Always clip the long line to a harness. ⭐️ Pick a lead without a handle so it doesn’t snag. ⭐️ Always keep two hands on the lead, one holding the loop and one feeding the lead in/out as your dog moves towards you. ⭐️ When your ready to try of the lead, keep the lead attached but let it go, so you still have a safety net. It's beneficial to start recall training as soon as you bring your puppy home. Our puppy training classes build a foundation recall to set them up for success. Welcome to Happy Paws!

I’m Tess a Dog Walker and Trainer based in Shrewsbury, offering Solo and group walks and in the coming months group classes and 1-2-1 training.

I have completed a Professional Dog Walking Certificate & Canine First Aid Certificate with the British College of Canine Studies and currently studying for a Diploma in Canine Behaviour.

I have also completed the 2 day Career as a Dog Trainer course & 4 Day Practical Instructor course with the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) and I am in the process of becoming an accredited member.
