We are looking for someone to fulfil a dog walking/pet sitting self employed role in Shrewsbury/ surrounding areas.

Summer is coming, owners are going away! We are on the look out to find someone passionate about animals with a love of the outdoors who is prepared to work come rain or shine. This role will be buildable as our business grows, with some set hours available immediately, and insured through us.

This job role will be specifically based on walking dogs in both groups & 1:1 The clients we expect you to be walking could be rescue dogs, nervous, reactive etc. So being patient to build a bond and not show fear is essential. The group walks can be local to the customer, or at our secure field, we would start you off with a small group and build up to around 6 in a group if your vehicle allows. Understanding dogs body languages and behaviours is essential for a successful group.

The successful individual must have flexible availability Monday-Friday with approximate working hours of 10AM-4PM This same individual must also be prepared to carry out overnight pet sitting in our clients homes for various lengths of time (7 days a week)

Essential criteria-
Respectful and trustworthy- you will be entering clients homes.

Good communication skills- with ourselves and clients. You will be expected to take photos and provide clients with updates of their pets care.

Physically fit- this job can be very physically demanding.

Confident and happy to work with various breeds species and sizes.

Preferred but not essential-
Animal qualifications of level 3+
Animal related CPD points
Rescue kennel experience

Van for transportation

Requirements-
Experience with dogs with ownership as a minimum
Full UK drivers licence
Aged 18+
Motor vehicle (taxed, business insurance, MOT)
DBS check (or willing to get one)
Smart phone
Pet first aid training (if not you must be happy for us to put you through this)

I have posted several times about the amazing professional and outstanding service by AJ’s pet sitting services. Not only because it marks my nervous rescue dogs progess journey but also because the dedication from from Alice is just incredible and a natural gift..
Louie presented with many behaviour issues as a result of a bad past leaving many scars . Nobody can come into my house let alone touch/walk him .
He can be reactive.and unpredictable ( to the untrained eye ).He is the most goofy and loving boy if only he would let people see . Many walkers and day care wouldn't take him on . Alice did!.knowing full well how he was, she wanted to help. She was confident, didn't show nerves whatsoever. She respected louie and his boundaries and wanted him to learn to trust her. Believe me not many people.are able to do this. It takes someone with a natural gift to not show fear and gain trust .
Alice took time., sitting at one end of the room and gradually getting closer until she was sat on the floor next to him . He calmed down quicker than he ever has before , I think he thought, darn this girl isn't giving in lol .he's progressed from that to initial solo walks to group walks with no problems with other dogs and even people,.in fact other people have managed to touch louie and feed him treats because he trusts Alice when she says its OK. He has never ever done this for anyone before
Alice is part of his pack . He gets into her van, into crates which was unheard of . She's helped at the vets which I could not of done without her, he listens to her , cuddles her ,.kisses , stuff that he will only do for me his mum and never any one else.
He even went on the beach trip which would not of been possible a couple.years ago , but Alice knows him enough to know he would be fine , which he was !
The beach trip was an amazing experience and idea and something I don't see a lot of , so I look forward to other trips.
Louie is also better at home in regards to reactivity on walks and guests ,and it's because of Alice helping his journey of loving life again .
Alice is professional , understanding, listens to her clients, friendly, a very good business head on her, and just such a lovely person.
I recommend her full stop but I especially recommend her with nervous dogs , reactive dogs.and rescues . I wouldn't trust anyone else with louie. He gets socialisation, exercise , life experience, and enrichment with Alice. Reactive dogs can be happy and loving, as long as people give them the chance and of course go to Alice for walkies!

Only thing is , Alice is not allowed to move , change jobs or go traveling for months at a time , because we need you Alice!
