The Craftekittens Sanctuary

The Craftekittens Sanctuary A Safe Haven for frail, abandoned, stray, unique and disabled cats and kittens. Over 18yrs Experience

The Craft-E-Kittens are an adopted family of felines, each with a varied medical or behaviourial disorder which put the at the top of the "PTS" list prior to our Sanctuary adopting them. Current: Pumpkin has a Heart Murmur, Chewie has Feline Alopecia, Eczema and Vestibular Disorder. Stitch AKA Beany has FIV, a sensitive stomach and severe Separation Anxiety. Eddy NKA Eggy has severe Separation Anx

iety, Inverted Eyelids, Poor Eyesight and FIV. Each of these illnesses and disorders require specific treatments and or medicines, thus unfortunately being viewed as "too time consuming and costly" to "Bother with" until we became aware of them at differing stages in the past 10 years.

Feeling so thankful/grateful and appreciative of all the wonderful people in my area who've been donating everything from DVD's Books Games and Puzzles to Clothes and Housewares this week - plenty of people would turn their nose up at our cause (and have done in the past) but certainly feeling the love for a change... THANK YOU everyone xx

A bit of backstory on Alby.
I'll be re-writing one page for each Rainbow baby but it'll take time. My heart's in a weird place right now as I've been unwell and to be honest I'm not sure if I have the strength to revisit every memory and write about it fully yet so these will be sporadic notes until future updates. http://furwebsmarket.uk/alby-2019-present
If you can donate we would TRULY appreciate anything you can afford. For donation methods check the link in the comments instead. Thank you xx

Just heard the news - Rest in peace Sir Michael Gambon πŸ˜”β€οΈ. Known for many things throughout the years of course - but best of all in this house as Albus Dumbledore and Kazran Sardick... 2 characters which are SO special to us πŸ‘

May update later, but just FYI. Mum and Johnny have gone in at 4am to be with Alby while he is Put to sleep. Am broken. May respond later.

Albys just been rushed to the vets again... Another flair up of preexisting life threatening condition. We thought this was all in the past now or rather hoped it was. He'd been okay since December. Until this morning he was fine, eating drinking toileting and playing happy as ever. Today he's reluctant to drink, won't eat, fidgety, getting progressively zoned out and jumpy...
If you have any pennies to spare please πŸ™ send them via the PayPal link below. I hate to say it but we need your help.
Donate: please it could quite literally save his life 😭

Just a quick heads up - I've been made aware that our domain expired without alerting us and was purchased by someone else (from overseas by the looks of it) so don't use the direct link "thecraftekittens" . co . uk as it's pointing to some dodgy shopping sites now and rather upsettingly spamming google search with our tag-lines mixed with their junk. :(. Just passing on the details.

Pearly-Mei would like to let you all know that during our morning meeting and food-dishing-out she made the a-PAW-ling discovery that we are nearly out of all types of wet foods! :(. She says this simply won't be permitted and we have to remedy the issue FAST.
Paws crossed that we can get back on her good side after shopping tomorrow!
(You can help too, by either visiting out amazon wishlist https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/3KL0GKAV8DCM4?ref_=wl_share and sending us some much needed supplies,
or by shopping with us https://www.furwebsmarket.uk for your bits and bobs, toys, games, clothes and more to help us fund their shopping requiremets!) xx

Phew, this past month has been hectic as dinnertime with 6 hungry meow-ths to feed.
Firstly I'd like to thank the local Scouts for their huge donation of books, puzzles, DVDs and more last month after their own fundraiser. Secondly thank you to each of the local donation supporters recently who gave us items and lastly THANK YOU for everyone who has bought from our fundraising website πŸ‘πŸΎ. Give yourselves and everyone else a huge round of a-paws πŸ˜€... (Sorry couldn't resist 🀦)
We do still gratefully accept anything else you can spare though as we head into the busiest months and are still scrabbling to regain costs of recent vet bills.

10/03/2023

A long shot but if anyone is getting rid of games consoles, DVDs, CDs, any kind of games and books etc... (Especially a working PS4 /Xbox one to enable us to test donated stock!) in the foreseeable... Don't bin it, please consider passing it on to us for fundraising.
Thanks πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘β€οΈ

10 years ago... TEN.. On this very day - I lost my beautiful baby boy. My rock. My world.
He fought so strongly, for so so long. Far outliving those foolish narrow-minded people's estimations. Everything we've done since you passed, and still do now is in your memory my beauty.
Helping Sox (Socky) was THE reason for this Cause to even become a thing. That would become my entire lifes work. Though my heart breaks and aches when times are toughest, I would not change or lose one single day of those memories. They are my solidity. My platform to grasp. My guide and my compass.
You are missed every day, by those who love you still - and Always. Never forget, never give up. Always fight for what you believe in and Always Always... Cherish the memories shared πŸ˜”πŸ˜. Love you for eternity ❀️😘 My Puppycat.

N.b he was almost completely blind when these photos were taken aged 16. Please don't leave negative comments.

Odd development. Alby is home. His bladder was found to be COMPLETELY empty. So much so that they had trouble locating it in scans.
We have him home now and has Gabapentin, Metacam Oral and Injection, Hypovase and Cystease medication for the next 5 days before he has to go back in.
Thank you πŸ’• to Nahnah and Grampy KittyMumma & Des - Handmade Gifts for covering today's Β£105.67 vet bill and running Johnny to the Emergency appointment. ❀️😘

Alby has just been rushed into the emergency vet due another flair up of his UTI and bleeding. As you know, in male seniors it can be life threatening, especially combined with his other ailments.
Your donations are vital to us carrying on our work and saving these beautiful furbabies just like Alby.
We can only continue with the support of our followers β€οΈπŸ™πŸ˜”.

Five years today since losing our precious Wolfie. (31/7/2016). It simultaneously feels too long, yet like the years don't add up - feel like it's been longer. He would've loved meeting every single one of our adoptive family, always. We miss him, always. We hope that at least now his fur-clan (Chewie, Eggy, Beany and Pum) are all together again in the meadow just over rainbow bridge - they're at peace and happy.
Here are some of my favourite moments from the cat cabin photos... Too many to choose really.

Wonky Pets Rescue

Dino (white/black male) and his sister Dina (black/white female) are looking for a new home together. They are flea and worm treated, microchipped, had a first vaccination so far and can be returned to our vets in Swadlincote, Alcester, Stratford, Worcester, Northampton or Newport Shrops for their 2nd vaccination included in the adoption. The kittens can also be neutered any of the above vets at a discount price when old enough and they will come with 5 weeks free pet insurance and a rehoming pack.

Dino and Dina came into our care after being given away free, to ensure they didnt end up in the wrong hands and to make sure they got all the correct treatments etc they needed we were happy to help.

They are gorgeous lively, super playful kittens who are into absolutely everything as you would expect kittens to be. Dino is the more forward of the two and gets into much mischief with his little sister not far behind.

They are eating really well and enjoying both wet and dry food. They are using the litter tray but will need confining to a single room or smaller area when initially coming into a new home until they get used to where their tray is.

They seem to have become a little stressed around very young children so are looking for a home with children aged 6yrs plus who are used to cats, these babies have very sharp claws! They can live with other cats and could learn to live with a nice calm cat friendly dog.

They will need a home AWAY FROM ANY BUSY ROADS with a nice safe garden to play in once old enough and neutered.

Being fostered in Swadlincote, Derbys but can be rehomed further afield subject to homehceck and donation of Β£50 per kitten.

If you can offer this adorable pair their forever home please email us telling us all about your home offer and contact details to [email protected]

The mood in here has been... tense and quiet recently. Eggy is loving playing on the verandah, especially when it rains (something we never thought she'd enjoy) but it feels like we're missing something. The family atmosphere has gone but we three still soldier on xx have a lovely evening everyone πŸ˜ΏπŸ˜”β€οΈπŸƒ

16/06/2019

A difficult decision has been made. Due to being unable to adopt into our fragile setting/mini ecosystem (The cat Cabin) any furbabies for the better part of 7 months... no matter how hard we tried - And after the heartbreaking losses of not one, not two, but three of our senior fur-family, our children.... Within just four months... of eachother out of the blue.
We're closing the cause.
Eggy is OBVIOUSLY staying put, that's not even a question. But we can't keep putting ourselves and Eggy through this day in day out both of us holding our hearts out hoping someone can see what we're offering, and keep overthinking what could be wrong that's putting everyone off. 😿🐾.
I'm so sorry I have to break my last promise to you Chewie... We just can't help any more special babies if nobody will acknowledge the world we live in. Tried my absolute hardest. It's killing me to have not only lost you all, but to be walking away from 15 years of memories πŸ’”πŸ˜ΏπŸΎπŸŒˆ. Melodrama: we literally have nothing without doing what we do. XxπŸ˜˜β€πŸ˜‘

Some recent pictures of Chewie, Eggy and the cabin. Looking back you can feel the atmosphere had drastically changed already after losing Beany & Pum before Chewie passed away 😿🐾. More pics & uploads as I find 'em.

Her nose and eyes are a bit gunky tonight (where they've been clear for a while now?) Probably pollen and cool air flaring up her breathing issues but little princess ate a small amount of beef and chicken tonight which I wasn't sure she would after all that she ate earlier. While not a lot in normal cat terms, when caring for special needs furbabies you have to work on their goals and terms, not the average meowlet 😺😼

12/06/2019

Only just back in from Eggy, went out at 12.30 as we were both ill overnight but....she ate!! A pouch of Blink! Chicken & Duck plus her 2 small slivers of Beef!
Then ..after sitting listening to 60's music with her for an hour, I had a strange compelling thought to do something we've not done in years and NEVER with Eggy- we ventured out on to the verandah, she was scared and sunk down into John's arms while staring terrifiedly towards the gate then back into the cabin but we reassured her it was safe so she was happy to cling on to our arms while sniffing around but she panicked and scampered back to the furthest end inside the cabin away from the door and snuggled up on Beanys blue stool. Then I had a thought.... we put her in Wolfies mini cage to lay in on the verandah... She went flop as soon as the door catch closed, had happy washie time and kept going wide eyed and bushy looking at the flowers etc. It may have only been 15mins but she loved it. Got cold quickly though so have to be careful with her asthma. Put her back in the cabin and she refused to come out of the mini cage 😁😈🌚 Xx typically the ONE time both out phones are on charge in the house and something that doesn't usually happen - happened! πŸ˜‚πŸΎπŸ˜
