🚶‍♀️🎉 Conquering Snowdon: Amanda and Tara's Adventure! 🎉🚶‍♀️

On Monday, vet Amanda and vet nurse Tara, successfully summited Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), the highest mountain in Wales.

Standing at 1,085 metres (3,560 feet), Yr Wyddfa is a challenging climb that tests even seasoned hikers. Despite the hot weather and steep trails, they pushed through with determination reaching the summit in just over 3 hours.

Starting their journey early in the morning, they were greeted by the breathtaking landscapes of Snowdonia National Park. Reaching the top, they were rewarded with stunning panoramic views.

A combination of teamwork and perseverance remind us of the incredible things we can achieve when we set our minds to it.

We are delighted to announce that Orby Vets has achieved accreditation under the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme.

This voluntary scheme run by the RCVS sets standards and runs assessments to promote the highest standards of veterinary care. After a lot of hard work and a rigorous inspection by a college inspector, we are proud to now announce our accreditation, thanks to dedication and determination of the whole Orby Vets team.

*Veterinary Nurse community home visiting service* 🐶

We are delighted to launch our Veterinary Nurse home visiting service to clients in Skegness and the surrounding villages.

With the aim of extending care into the heart of the community and into the patient’s own home environment, this new service will be offered by our own team of talented Registered Veterinary Nurses.

Initially running on Thursdays each week, nurses will be able to offer a variety of services for clients that may find it difficult to travel to the surgery or whose pet is stressed by veterinary clinic visits. Services include dressing changes, post op checks, a**l gland expression, claw clipping, administration of prescribed medications including monthly arthritis and allergy injections and blood samples requested by a veterinary surgeon.

*New Home Visting Service for end of life care*

From 1st March we are pleased to be able to offer our clients the option of a dignified home visit for end of life care for cats and dogs.

This service will provide the opportunity for an unhurried appointment in the familiar and comforting surroundings of your own home when the time comes to say goodbye to your beloved pet.

Initially appointments will be available as a bespoke service on Tuesday afternoons in Skegness and the surrounding areas, however days and times may be expanded depending on client needs.

⭐️ RCVS UPDATE ⭐️

As of the 1st of September 2023, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (our governing body) have set out new guidelines on how prescription-only medication can be prescribed in veterinary practice. These include antibiotics, anti-parasitics and controlled medications.

In many cases the practice protocols will remain very similar and has little impact on our day-to-day practice.

The biggest factor that you as a client may notice is that anti-parasitics (flea,tick and worm treatments) are now under tighter control, which means that there needs to be a physical examination performed before they can be prescribed, even to our patients under treatment at our practice for other unrelated conditions.
