Well as many of you know now I have taken on 2 x 5 wk old JRT's Sam n Ella!! Mum was involved in a RTA and very sadly went over to rainbow bridge. My initial response was to foster them but they overwhelmed and are going to stay. They are ridiculously wonderful and are learning from the other dogs how to be dogs!! They are both very responsive and are gaining weight in a good way (not to fast). I am yet to decide which route to take each pup down.....would love to have down agility with Sam but just not keep up. Ella is a gentle little soul and would be more suited to 'trick training' or something a bit more. Will keep peeps up to date with the pups and if you have any questions etc please do not hesitate to ask.xx

Well an update at long last. I took on Podge a year ago and boy what a great dog he has turned out to be. His training is slow but good. We have a brilliant 'wait', sit, come, play, and his steady (slow down and be gentle) is to die for and he has a really good settle. He is so charming and gentle and puts up with quite a bit of 'poo' from Pablo Diablo!!! He did try his hardest to teach Pabs to stop being the 'play police' but the little ninja didnt listen and ended up with a bit of a bruised ear!!! He loves everyone and adores both the girls (Min and Ava) and is overjoyed in the mornings when we come down. I love this dog to pieces and Mr Bob knew what he was doing when he guided us to him.

Well, thought it about time I updated Canine Codes. I do an awful lot of charity work now, mainly dealing with dog rehoming and terrier work. Doing a nutrition course and spending a lot of time with my own terrier Mr Bob. Still doing a lot of shaping and praise work with Pabs (my chi rescue). He is trying so hard. x

Due to my own and also family commitments I have had to take a long break. It has been one thing after another with lots of visits to A&E. I am hoping to do short 1-2-1 consults and am happy to do walks etc. So if anyone would like to meet please call 01529 304934. Thanks for all your patience. Estelle Cooper you are still a hero.###xx

Just had some very sad news that a little rescue JRT that I had been working with in the summer has passed to rainbow bridge. Little Benji was only about 3 but developed a large growth in his stomach. He was taken to Queens Uni vet Hosp in Cambridge but died during the op with a massive blood loss which caused heart failure. Owner also informed me it was only 48hrs from start to when he passed. Run free my little chap Benji at the bridge. ###############x

Have had the most fabulous day today doing two 1-2-1's. Both dogs responded fabulously to force free training and both owners were so happy with the results. Its such a great joy when things work out so well for dog and handler. Yehhhhhxx

Working hard this week, writing reports, doing visits etc. Nice to be busy. Have met with some lovely owners over the past two weeks and one very complicated one!!! Have had to source help with a feline related case and hopefully should be able to help the owner with extra input soon. Lets hope it works. ###x

Have been working a lot this week with different dogs. Saw Benji tonight and he has really progressed, what a difference. Seeing a new springer on friday that is reactive and over the top....lets hope I can help her. xx

12/07/2013

Have been to see two lovely little dogs this week, both are rescues with major issues. One has been kicked around to keep him away from the household cat and although he is about 3=4 this is his 5th home. Why oh why do people take these babies on.xx

Have been taking Bob to work with me over he past few weeks. Bless him he loves it but it is starting to show when we finish....he flakes out and sleeps for hours. I do tend to forget the he is 11 now. Havent worked him for a couple of years so it was a little jump start when he started again with Paul working him now. Harder task master with Paul than other clients.....'dont move that way', 'watch you step and what leg you lead off with', to basically asking ;what on earth was that ahnd signal'.....but we are all loving it. xx

17/05/2013

Well after a moderately lazy Easter, we are now gearing back up for later this week. Little Ernie worked so hard last week and it was such an uplift for his owner. You go Estelle. x

To all my fellow behaviourist & trainers and JRT owners, I am doing a presentation next year on Jack Russell Terriers. I have formulated a questionaire that I would like owners of JRT's to fill in. I am asking everyone on here if they have any clients or know of anyone who has a JRT would they please like to take part. My talk is to try and increase understanding of the breed across Europe and in the UK. I would love input from around the world, the more the merrier! If so could they email me at [email protected]
Many thanks, xx

Well after all the festivities have finally died down and we are now getting back to into a normal routine. I have been kept busy with doing write-ups for the mag and also starting to get together the info on my survey. I shall also be asking more people to take part in the questionaire over the next couple of months. Please if you have a JRT or JRTx and would like to put yourself forward, then please feel free to contact me. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year, Jan###

05/12/2012
