Are you concerned that they won’t settle in their usual environment?

Do they require hand walking several times a day, and you simply do not have the time? Or perhaps they are cheeky to hand walk, so walking in straight lines on the treadmill is safer and more beneficial for all involved.

🏠At The Hydrotherapy Hut we can provide care for your horse straight from surgery, working closely with your vet to ensure they follow a correct rehabilitation plan.

We are also very happy for your vet, farrier, physio, dentist to see your horse on-site at no extra cost. We also have our network of visiting specialists who we can refer you to should you need them.

Swipe to see the progress of this 17-year-old showjumping gelding after just 8 water treadmill sessions over 10 days, plus 2 earlier sessions before his holiday. His goal? To improve balance, coordination, and muscle tone after struggling with muscle atrophy and topline development.

Ooo, an interesting study done by Kentucky Equine Research.

Findings established that when using the incline recurrently on the underwater treadmill, your horse can develop the correct muscles in the back within two weeks! 💪💦

Water-phobic horse? Read below...

It’s a question we are asked a lot, what if my horse doesn’t like the water? Our experienced therapists will take the time to slowly introduce your horse to the treadmill, starting off dry and gradually adding the water when your horse is ready. Over a course of a few sessions, we will increase the water levels as your horse’s fitness and strength improves. It is very important to us that we don’t over-do the work on the water treadmill too soon. Plus treats, treats and more treats end up making it the best workout ever!✨

We have too many recently so think a post maybe helpful too. Please remember that your horse CANNOT use the treadmill if their shoes are loose or if they have been recently shod (within 5days) and have the nail head freshly protruding.
They grip the treadmill belt too much which can affect movement and also damage the belt. Loose shoes if thrown whilst in the treadmill could also injure the horse!! Road nails or studs cannot be used either. Please remember to schedule your treadmill sessions accordingly. Or risk losing your session and a wasted trip!
