Well today we’ve been really busy getting the barn just perfect for the Competitive Obedience event with Jessica Lewis. And isn’t it looking fabulous! Colin’s all ready for Halloween. He’s got his pumpkin jumper on and he’s really hoping there’ll be more treats than tricks!
So hopefully his “please can I have a treat”face will fill his treat bucket up to the brim! I guess he’ll have to wait and see!

Am I doing it right Mum?? This is just one of the many things Fyfe loves to do throughout the day! Using his little brain to work things out and getting a big reward when he does. Puppies really do need this kind of stimulation and he’s always super tired when he’s finished his game. So if you’ve got a puppy too, who loves to puzzle things out, or is just a busy little bee, then we’ve got a new class coming up which you’re going to love! So this was lots of fun! Magic, Biggins and Joey all enjoying something a little different in the pool and they loved it! He’s such a good boy and is loving learning new things! He’s like a little sponge that can’t get enough training treats. Do follow along to see him progress and to find out what he’s learning next! This might look like an ordinary walk with three dogs just out and about on a Sunday afternoon. But if you have, or have ever had a reactive dog, you’ll know this is something pretty special! This is the social walk we organised for the end of our current reactivity workshop (sadly not all the dogs could make it today) and they were all incredible. They walked past other dogs and people and took it all in their stride. We are so proud of them all. Overcoming the fear this kind of situation presents for a reactive dog and their owner should never be taken lightly. It’s a huge well done from us, you should all feel very proud. This is Debbie and the gorgeous Magic practicing a series of exercises for a Richard Curtis (one of the UK’s leading heelwork to music/freestyle trainers) challenge! The aim was to use voice commands only and didn’t they do well! But how can you achieve this with your dog? Well you’ll have to start at the beginning first, with the foundations of obedience. We’ve got a fabulous Scentwork Workshop happening on the 31st August, which we’re really excited about!
Scentwork is lots of fun and something both you and your dog can enjoy. As Colin is showing here, he’s super motivated to keep searching because he’s having a great time! He loves working with his Auntie Debbie too!

Loose lead walking can be the most boring thing you can train your dog to do, but it doesn’t have to be.
This video is just a snippet of the one to one session we did today with the gorgeous Bonnie and her Mum. Bonnie is the perfect dog apart from her very strong lead pulling. Her Mum says she “pulls like a train!”.
So here I am starting the process of teaching her to walk nicely on her lead. It all starts with no lead and teaching her that she needs to be nicely at my side, using a hand touch and lots of rewards.
It also needs to be fun with lots of motivation and energy on my part! She then very quickly learned that being at my side was a super place to be. And once the lead was attached, she began to walk nicely, on a lovely loose lead.
But don’t be fooled and think this is now problem solved. There’ll be lots of homework for Bonnie and her Mum, but they’ve gone away with an action plan to follow. Which, when followed, will definitely produce results!Well done Bonnie, you did so, so well!
