UPDATE - we have been made aware by SSPCA that the unidentified substance is bio degradable granules applied by Aberdeenshire Council to correct an oil spillage.

We have been informed by the SSPCA that an unidentified substance has appeared at Fraserburgh beach. It is the path leading to dunes beside Robertson memorials. PLEASE AVOID this area with your pets in the meantime. Thank you.

Depending on numbers I will be looking to start this Friday 24th with pick ups roughly between 12/1pm

Thinking of starting to offer a half day service on a Friday - this will be for a group longer walks & dogs must get along with others (preferably good recall for off lead at times)
The aim is to keep them for a few hours (probably afternoon) taking them to different places to explore new walks.

Just looking for numbers to see if this is something of interest to anyone

Did you know that in Scotland there are no rules or regulations to starting a dog walking/pet sitting business 🤯

when I first looked into starting my business I couldn’t believe that you didn’t even need insurance to start up. This to me is mind blowing, as a dog/pet owner myself I can’t believe that people would start this sort of business without some level of insurance to protect not only them but the pets they are caring for.

I have always had insurance (even before my 1st client), I pay a yearly fee & get inspected yearly by local dog warden and only once all checks are passed I am granted my license for that year.
Aberdeenshire council can provide a full list of all licensed home boarders in the area, please note this does not include people who offer a pet sitting in your own home as a service this is not regulated or checked by council.

Whoever you choose to walk/pet sit for you please be mindful that there are no rules for unlicensed business

I now have space for group walks and 1-1 when required.
As I have my home boarding license I am inspected yearly to ensure I am complying with all current laws, i’m fully insured for group walks (no more than 4 as advised at inspections), transport and home visits with public liability cover

I have been in business for a few year now and treat all dogs walked & boarded as part of my extended family 🥰

The benefit of choosing Happy Tails is that when you require boarding for holidays etc I already have the bond with your dog which eases the stress on both owners and pets 🐾🥰

Business update -

As of the 25th Sept all walks will now be carried out by myself.
All holidays will be posted on page and no walks will be covered when I’m off.

I do have some space for group walks, these can be daily/weekly/offshore rota & as always all dogs/owners are met by me before any walks start. If I haven’t met you then you are not being walked under Happy Tails.

Unfortunately my car is in the garage and is waiting on parts, it doesn’t look like it will be ready until end of this week 😢
I am hoping that I can work around my husband and use his car for the majority of walks, however this will mean that walks might be earlier than normal or times slightly reduce to ensure I get all dogs out before he needs its.
I don’t aim to cancel any walks however if his work changes I may need to change plans (short walk/split visit) last minute but will update if this happens.

2023 is fully booked
As I have had a lot of enquiries already I have decided to open my 2024 diary to anyone who has stayed before. This allows regulars a chance to book in where I know the dogs are already settled with my own 2

Please remember prices increased by £5 and is now charged per day not by night.

Don’t want to alarm anyone but sharing purely for local awareness.

There have been 2 instances recently of local surfers standing barefoot on what is believed to be weever fish.

This is extremely rare in the area and through the many decades of surfers and bathers at Fraserburgh beach we can’t recall reports of this previously.

Weevers are small fish which generally bury themselves in the sand and have a small poisonous barb on their back. If stood on, the poison creates a very painful stinging sensation which worsens over time.

Simple first aid if you believe to have stood on a weever is to bathe the affected area in hot water (as hot as you can tolerate) for around 15 minutes and the pain will generally subside.

Again we want to stress that this is extremely uncommon and the beach is an entirely safe place to spend your recreational time.

If in doubt or you have concerns for young children, the simple wearing of water shoes / booties will remove any risk.

Holiday update -
I will be finishing for walks on Thursday 3rd Aug returning back on Tuesday 22nd Aug (no walks will be covered)
Home Boarding is closed for Aug

2024 DIARY -
I have had a lot of enquiries for 2024 bookings and I will be opening my diary for next year very soon.
Please note that next year the school holiday availablity will be very limited and the dates I have free book up first.
June will have very limited spaces due to our own holiday.

When booking please remember if you haven’t stayed before a garden visit is required to ensure all dogs get along and no date is booked until deposits are paid.
