At the Pet Gang we aim to provide the best services for your pets with peace of mind on your side. We specialise mainly in canine but also have plenty of experience and knowledge with any other kinds of pets. Dogs - We provide an experienced handler that has the aim in helping you with any behavioural issues that you are working on by aiding with the consistency. We want to have structured walks t

o provide maximum enrichment for your individual dog. We do not provide pack walk (unless from same household) but sometimes will bring our pooch to help in the walks. We also provide puppy socialisation pack ( ask for more details)

Cats- we provide multiple pop ins for cats and will sort everything out before sitting down and having a cuddle or play with them in the own comfort of their home

Aquatic- We provide from basic maintenance to basic health check for your Pond, Tropical tank or Reef tank. Owning a koi pond and a reef tank, we know the head ache of finding someone reliable when on holiday. And at the Pet Gang, we have someone experienced in the field after having worked in the relevant aquatic department. Exotic Animals- Having worked in a pet shop, our main carer has had his hand full will snakes enclosure, ferrets, lizards, etc. Please do contact us if you need anything regarding exotic animals. Farm animals- We can also provide Horse tacking or livestock feeding when away. Please contact us for more information. We like to keep you updated with pictures of what your pets have been up to with us on social media or privately. We cover St Neots and Surrounding Villages

📢📢Big big announcement 📢📢

The Pet Gang is now offering puppy socialisation classes in St Neots. Yes, you read that right. It will be around 1 hour per session and it will be around 8 sessions in total.

This will consist of basic training and proper socialisation with different surroundings, noises, smells, textures, etc. We will focus as a group on how we want our pooches to behave in different settings.

The first session will start WC 18th of March
Location(TBC).

We will need a minimum of 3 puppies booked to start. Puppies need to be a minimum of 12 weeks old and must be fully vaccinated.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if interested or if you want further details.

It will cost £15 per puppy and handler.

Did you know that we have changed the digestive system of dogs?

Dogs have been domesticated for centuries now and their living side by side with us has brought changes to their system. Although dogs and wolves have virtually the same digestive anatomy it is quite interesting to see that our relationship with dogs has changed their internal processes. While wolves are obligate carnivores, dogs have developed into opportunistic aka facultative carnivores. Obligate carnivores rely on fulfilling their nutritional needs through animal protein, while opportunistic carnivores thrive on animal protein-based diets, they can also fulfil their nutritional needs by eating fungi or plants. Although wolves have been found to eat berries and grains as well on occasion.

When looking at the digestive anatomy of dogs compared to herbivores and other omnivores, dogs have a very short digestive tract. This is a common characteristic of carnivores, whether canine, feline, or mustelids. Meat is easier to digest therefore does not require the same length of digestive tract to be able to be absorbed fully and broken down. Regardless of this, it has been discovered that the continued cohabitation of dogs with humans has changed the dogs internal processes. Dogs are 5x more likely than wolves to be able to digest starch from grains such as rice and wheat. Their genes have adapted, and dogs have a higher abundance of amylase genes than wolves for example. Amylase is an enzyme which helps digest carbohydrates. The long-term domestication has caused changes to dogs’ gut microbes, which led to an increased number of genes for starch digestion. Similar development could be seen in humans too where people originating from high-carb diet regions have more genes to process starch than regions with lower carb diets e.g. Japanese vs Mbuti.

Fun fact: Although cats have been domesticated as well, they did not undergo the same changes as dogs did. Cats are still obligate carnivores.

Special thought to all XL Bully owners out there with the ban in place. Please get your certificate sorted and get the muzzle training going. You owe it to your pups.

We will 100% continue to work with XL bullies as we believe its the other end of the lead that needs working on.

I will be posting some muzzle training tips, facebook groups, muzzle sellers, etc as time goes. Dont hesitate to contact me should you require some info.

It's been a long time since we posted, but what a wonderful occasion to do so!

Today we, The Pet Gang, celebrate our 2 year anniversary. It has been an exciting time with ups and downs, but all worth it.

We would like to thank our clients for the support and trust with their furbabies. And we are looking forward for more years to come.

The Power of Play!!! 😊

The power of play!!! Never underestimate the power of play. This was Drogo about 3 months ago for our daily sessions and this time in the kitchen. Before the video, I had plenty of trouble to get his focus as he was more bothered with every other noises. So I grabbed his toy and start becoming interesting to him again. Watch as from 2.15 mins where I get his attention back. I even went on teaching him a new position (right) as he was so keen. But lost focus at the end because cookie came back home. 🙈. Daily training with Drogo

We take 10 to 15 mins daily with our dogs to do some obedience work. It is really important to keep consistency with training. Here we have Drogo working some basic obedience training with some distractions. ☺️🐾🐶 We also offer training walks, where we help with the consistency on your training. PM us for a chat. ☺️
