What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare…

What did you do with your horses at the weekend? Clemmie and I performed at Armour behind the Abbey in Tewkesbury. A weekend of medieval shenanigans. Turns out Clemmie and I like hunting down and striking men with a sword ⚔️

Animals have played such an integral and important part of my life. They make up my family and so I understand that yours do too

Raised on a farm, and being a shy yet fiercely independent child, it was always joked that I was “raised by pigs”as by and large, they were my main companions. With my parents busy all day, and no other children for company, I roamed feral, forging deep friendships with the animals in my life. That has never changed!

My parents bred and very successfully traveled the country showing pedigree dogs from Great Danes, German Shepherds to Chihuahuas, Dachshunds and even Chinese Cresteds’ so I have experience of all manner of breeds and sizes. My favorite without a doubt are Irish Wolfhounds followed closely by lurchers! We always had a house full- never for showing just working dogs and companions.

However, my passion was always horses. We have never been without them, from Shires to Shetlands- again mostly working but also for pleasure. I was always out competing on my horses- anything from show jumping to endurance, which I continue to enjoy to this day on my big white Irish Draught mare ‘Indigo Clementine’.

Naturally my career has been based around my passion for animals: At aged 13, I started my career in the racing industry, moving onto Riding School Manager and Instructor. I have worked with some of the greats including Tim Stockdale, Oliver Townend, Kelly Marks, Heather Moffett and Martin Clunes. I have been the Communications Officer for the British Horse Society (BHS). I have been heavily involved at National Level with the Riding for the Disabled group (RDA). I have owned my own National Training company offering course in Equine and Animal Care up to degree level, as well as being an inspector for other colleges and universities, ensuring their Animal Care and Equine courses were up to government standard.
