SHORT BARK AND SIDES DOG GROOMING , CANONS PARK.
I had the honour of meeting and grooming this gorgeous boy today Ronnie. A Labradoodle so a mixed coat and he sheds like a Labrador. No shortcuts to get the coat just right, so a full de-shed whilst dry, a good wash then another deshed wet with conditioner and the blaster dryer to get rid of those final hairs, another rinse to remove the conditioner and then another blast dry with all the last bits blown out the coat and finally a clip as per the owners requirements. Ronnie looked gorgeous at the end and was so soft. No loose hairs sticking to his owners clothes for a while !!! For an appointment at Short Bark and Sides call Jo on 07714082116. 🐶🛁✂️

Hand stripping a wire haired dog, takes time and patience. 3 1/2 hours to get the fabulous Colin looking pristine. Handstripping is as it sounds. You gently pull by hand the loose dead hairs you can see in the smaller inset photo. It doesn’t hurt the dog at all as the hairs are ready to come out. Gorgeous Bailey doesn’t have the traditional Westie cut but a short trim, no skirt and short head. Having a dog is a big upkeep and maintenance at home takes time between grooms. Regular brushing a minimum of 3 times a week ensuring you get down to the root and problem areas under tummy, armpits, legs and paws and around the mouth are key areas that get matted and alter the look of your dog if it has to be clipped off at the next groom. If you’d like a lesson in how to brush your dog well including the difficult to reach areas I can teach you. You can also bring your dog in for a wash dry and brush between grooms. Take a look at the gorgeous Tobi who comes in for his weekly bath. He’s a little bit nervous and doesn’t love the bathing and drying process so I let him stay close to me and just bath him slowly and gently. He’s so much better than when he first came to me and getting more comfortable each week.

KEEP YOUR DOGS COAT IN GOOD CONDITION WITH THE RIGHT BRUSH AND DE-MATTING SPRAY - Keeping your dog’s coat longer in winter mixed with the beautiful English weather of rain and wind and your pooch running in puddles and mud means dirty, knotty coats with the potential to get very matted. Brushing regularly really helps and we would recommend a minimum of 3 times a week using a slicker brush, which as what we groomers use. If you find your dogs coat tends to get knotty then use the Matt-X spray which as a groomer is my go to product to make the brushing process easier and more comfortable for your dog. Short Bark and Sides sell both and I can also show you how to brush properly so you can get all the knots out if you need.
