Did you know that 3rd March is International Tripawd Awareness Day?

Thanks to my friend's tripawd dog Loki, I was able to come up with a pattern and formula for making great fitting coats for our three legged friends. I currently make tripaw drying coats, and fleece jumpers with the plan to add waterproof coats too.

It’s my annual β€œI’m not at Crufts post”! πŸ˜†

I’ve not exhibited at Crufts since pre-covid and things have changed a lot since then – both in the world and for my small business - and in photo quality!! πŸ“·πŸ˜„

When I did Crufts I had two ladies helping me sew, and at that time all I made was drying coats – and we know how saturated that market has now become – even though Freckles drying coats are still the best of course! 😊

I am now back to being a one woman show, and my business has developed to include more coat styles, sizes and colours. I make every item myself and so building up a good stock of all possible colours and sizes to take to Crufts would be nye on impossible for me – especially when March is off the back of the busiest time of year for sales of dog coats.

I don’t want to outsource production – that’s not what Freckles Designs is about. It’s about me, Angi, making great quality products for you. I want to retain that authentic made in Scotland feel, with the transparency of knowing that your coat was made with care and attention in Scotland, and made to last.

So it’s another year of FOMO for me – but I already have a hotel booked near the NEC for next year’s Crufts β€˜just in case’ I do decide to exhibit again next year ! πŸ€”πŸ˜

And a testament to how long they last and continue to look great. One coat is 5 years old, one is 4 years old, and the other is just a couple of weeks old.

Something has been preying on mind for a few days now so I thought I would see what you thought.

I received a low review on my website from a customer who was disappointed with the packaging of her coat and it has upset me a wee bit and I can't stop thinking about it.

I have consciously made the decision to reduce packaging to lower the environmental impact of excess waste as much as possible. I use recycled mailbags, sometimes boxes, and occasionally tissue paper if an item requires protection.

There are lots of small businesses out there that make the unpacking of their items an experience by using stickers, tissue paper, free gifts. I do get that this makes it a bit more exciting to open, but does extra packaging make the product any better and would you be more inclined to shop there again because it was nice to open?

I'm honestly interested to know if repackaging my products would make any difference to you buying from me again, or if I just let the comment go and continue as is ?

Who loves Freckles? Well here's a freckly jumper for you. (Is freckly a word??)

These spots will brighten up any walk on a dreich day. Choose from a slip on jumper or opt to have a full length zip instead. Also available with front legs should you so wish. If you choose a zip I also sew a zip flap under it so it fastens smoothly without catching on your dogs fur. Comfort is key!

11 standard sizes or I also do custom made to measure jumpers too for any shape and size. Lots of other colours to choose from aswell

*Limited Edition* two tone drying coats

I've had an idea for these two tone drying coats for a while now, and have started incorporating the yoke on a few one off quilted coats too. The idea of the yoke came to me when I was watching Yellowstone and saw the back of John Duttons leather jacket!

I had a bit of the silver grey fleece so have made 4 of these monochrome grey/black Ness drying coats ready for posting.
