XC isn’t something that came naturally to Rodney at first, we’ve worked so hard to build his trust and confidence, yesterday he was unrecognisable of the anxious scaredy cat he used to be and galloped around his first BE 100, not sure I even had to kick! He went past video camera guys up on scaffold towers, flag, trade stands, sculptures, fake sheep 🐑 the list goes on… those who know I couldn’t even get past a pushchair in the country park all that time ago understand my sense of achievement right now!

Lots of lessons to learn though as we start our eventing journey:

Lesson 1 - must focus more on his technique showjumping now he’s learnt to gallop over solid fences …. Yesterday our SJ round let us down!

Lesson 2 - studs are required to get around a slippy , slightly firm dressage arena

Lesson 3 - eventing is very fun! Must enter more 🤭😂

Shoutout to the best farrier too who fixed a crack in Rodney’s foot this week so he could enjoy himself eventing! RJM Farrier Services 🙌

Thankyou to all our supporters who came to watch, it was a really inspiring day riding amongst the eventing royalties! 🏇

𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗳𝗳... We offer a range of chops to suit the nutritional requirements of a wide variety of horses. From time to time we're asked why we call them 'chops' when so many equestrians would say 'chaffs'.

'Chaff' is traditionally a waste / by-product of the human food industry. It refers to what is left over after harvesting cereal grains, such as oats, wheat or corn. Consider the phrase 'sorting the wheat from the chaff'.

'Chop' is an abbreviation of chopped forage. Our Simple System chops are made from forages that have been grown, harvested, and dried, specifically for our horses in order to meet their very specific needs.

Our entire range is free from cereals and their by-products. Instead, Simple System feeds are based on the highest quality forages, such as dried lucerne, grass and sainfoin, and cooked whole meal linseed. So, when we refer to 'chops not chaffs', this seemingly small detail is actually quite a big deal!
