Everyday is a school day…. Always learning and picking up tips, keeping fresh and up to date with grooming. I went to a grooming seminar with at the weekend. Got some new products to try on your doggies and different styling tips for a super cute finish.

Ooh it’s a cold one this morning… I noticed there’s a lot of salt from the gritters on the pavement. The rock salt is toxic to dogs a good idea to wash your dogs paws after this mornings walks.

Mabel, Betsy and khaula 🐾 these fur babies came in recently…… on a different note and just for info…..

There are lots of grass seeds around at the moment, from the Bobby buttons (little round sticky balls) to foxtails (spikey seeds). My little cockerpoo is getting covered in them daily.

Please be aware that these seeds need to be brushed out of the coat and areas such as between toes, armpits and ears. The foxtail type of seed can easily pierce the skin and even enter the body causing big problems and possibly leading to surgery. If a seed enters the body through the feet for example, if left, it can track around the body and end up causing complications.
Please check paws, between toes in the deep folds of skin and ears/ armpits after every field/grassy walk. 🌾🦮

A border terrier day 🐾 Basil and Pippa 🐾clipping and hand stripping. Some dogs cannot tolerate being hand stripped for various reasons. Hormonal changes (brought on by many factors including neutering, illness and medication) can affect the coat and so a dog that was once happy to be stripped can become very intolerant to it. In these cases it’s kinder to clip.

Percy after his bath and the finished trim and coco had her bath brush and de-shed as it’s that lovely moulting time of year. Take care in the snow everyone, your doggies will get big snow balls on their long coats if out in it for a prolonged period. These snowballs can cause mats and skin problems. 🥶
