Patch needed urgent treatment after he got his paws on a pack of hot cross buns and devoured them all ๐ฑ
Aware that raisins are toxic to dogs, Patchโs owner quickly got in touch with PDSAโs out-of-hours veterinary service. At the practice, Patch was given medication to encourage him to be sick and was started on a fluid drip to support his kidneys. The next morning, he was transferred to Portsmouth PDSA Pet Hospital to monitor his progress and continue his fluids.
Thankfully, after a second night of hospitalisation, Patch was able to go home. Amazingly, his ownerโs quick actions had likely prevented Patch from developing kidney failure. "To me, heโs not just a pet โ heโs my emotional support and source of strength. At a time when I felt low, he was always there and knew when to cuddle me. He means so much," he explains.
"Things happen out of the blue with pets, so it means a lot that PDSA is there to help owners like me," Patchโs owner says. "Not everybody can afford private vet costs, but itโs not right that any pet should suffer because of that." Thanks to your support, we can treat more emergency cases like Patchโs โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
