Trick Training graduation today, what a dun bunch this has been. My first trick training course and its been filled with laughter and fun 😁
These boys have built in confidence in themselves and around each other. Wonderful 💃
Monday is Trick Training day 😁
Yesterday afternoon I started my first Trick Training Course 😁
We had Dottie, Brecken, and Eric. Would you think Brecken and Eric are both reactive? Both boys managed really well, we completed individual reactivity support before getting to this point. But they were curious and enjoyed the work so didn't need to worry.
All 3 did really well and were thoroughly tired, Im looking forward to the next 3 weeks 😄
Fab session with Eric and Mum this morning 🥰
I love this duo, he's a character and in many ways a typical collie, and kumquat is an experienced collie owner so it's great. We started off supporting with Reactivity work as he's lower in confidence and can be intense and unregulated.
But this morning mum wanted to mix it up 😁 So we did some trick training and started some very basic sheep ball skills to harness his genetic drives.
What fun!! 🥳
🥳 Check out these two 🥳
Now spaniels are notorious for pulling on lead 😮💨 This is because we have harnessed their genetic drive to meander and we've elevated it to be used in flushing out birds.
Here we have one 2.5 year old, and one 8 month old spaniel, both walking on a loose-lead, just in slightly different positions.
Daisy (the younger) has more need to move as she's still developing her sensory motor skills. So by us giving her more (yes I said more) lead, she has the space to move, while still moving fluidly through the environment with us. It feels less likes she's pulling, it's rewarding for everyone, and we can get further reward her for choices we like and build on those foundations.
All achieved through setting it up for her to succeed with our support using reward based training.
Just gorgeous 😍
But remember, loose-lead walking a journey. This skill isn't something that is fixed overnight.

Week 5 today and these guys are progressing nicely with Loose-lead walking, recalls, positions, and we introduced stay. 😀
Friday thinking: dog-human interactions and conflict 🤔🤔
HAZEL 🍂
I've been working with Hazel and her guardian for sometime now on and off. Hazel is a rescue adolescent GSD who in typical GSD style can become extremely vocal when frustrated or over aroused. The journey will always have bumps but just look at what she was able achieve a few weeks ago!
Watching dogs go by, relatively relaxed and content, at a close distance, just wonderful!! 🥰
Her dedicated guardian has also reported some really positive interactions this week with calm sniffing of 2 off lead dogs and wanting to play, coming away from another dog, and calmly watching others pass, and jot needing to decompress on her favourite toy after 😯 Brilliant! 🥳🥳
To help Hazel achieve this we are supporting her with free work to find balance and reset and using engament games where needed. The results are starting roll in. I am so pleased for this wonderful pair.

Mixing it up on walks - try this at home 😊
Bimbling walks and thoughts 🐕 🌳
Back and just about alive and kicking 😅
Juiors week 4 🥳🥳
What a wonderful session! This group have just grown and grown in engament with their handlers. What a fantastic session! Recalls around each other (with most leads dropped), some fun paws up, toy play, and wonderful loose-lead walking too. Such fun!
Engagement key for success, especially during those adolescent months. These guys have smashed it! Sad to miss graduation next week as away on holiday, but what a great one to end on 🥳🥳
