Happy World Bear Day!! Thankful to everyone who helps Animals Asia give tortured bears a new chance at life...❤️

From a life of neglect to a life filled with care, attention, and love—this is what sanctuary looks like 🥰

On World Bear Day, we celebrate every rescued bear and the people who make their second chance possible 🐻❤️

In case you missed this update on Christmas, here is his first encounter venturing outside his den 😀
Having spent 9 years in a small bile farm cage, this sweet bear finally gets to live a happy life in the safety of our Animals Asia bear rescue centre.
The reason I fundraise, is to help bears like Christmas, as, sadly he can't be released into the wild hence will need lifetime sanctuary care as will the rest of the bears rescued.
Next month, I'm doing a climb up Scafell Pike and in September Snowdon, to help bears like Christmas.
Please see my link if you are able to sponsor a few pennies:-)

A giant bear sized THANK YOU to the 10 volunteers who kindly participated in this afternoon's Big Bear beach clean at Whitburn. It was heartwarming to see familiar faces, as well as some new ones. 😀
Today we concentrated on removing marine debris trapped in kelp along the tide line. We removed 92kg (14 bags) of rubbish which is detrimental to the marine ecosystem.

There was fishing line, lots of pieces of cloth, plastics and cans....we didn't come across pellets or nurdles bit did see a few rotting dead fish and one little crab which our two lovely volunteers from Eco Volunteering UK safely relocated away from curious pups.🙂

Weekends are precious especially when there's work and school during the week so giving up a few hours to help protect our coastline and wildlife means a lot, thank you everyone who came to help🙏🏾

Our next community event is on 12 April at Littlehaven South Shields. See my Events section on Animals Asia North East UK support group for more information.

My friends at Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK Tracy and Iain (pictured outside Sheepfolds Stables for a quick catchup), also have a clean at Roker on the same day, 12 April - do follow their page too for updates. Also check North East Beach Clean for other events.
There is strength in unity, and we can achieve success if we unite for our planet.

Hi folks....with Summer creeping in (optimistically), if you'd like to get yourself an Animals Asia baseball cap, it's £12 and I will have them with me at my beach cleans.
I can take card payment as it goes directly via my Animals Asia North East UK support group fundraising to Animals Asia's bear rescue and captive animal welfare campaigns. 🐻💙😊
I also have reusable Animals Asia bags, just ask....Big Bear hugs, Vijay x

It was wonderful to see our beautiful Animals Asia leader, Jill Robinson on a webinar this morning.
Lunar cat got to say Hello too:-)
Jill's was an incredible and moving presentation and to be reminded of the horrors of bear bile farming is always fuel to fire for fundraising momentum.

Did you know that bear parts could be purchased in Asia? Paws, and other limbs were cut off, put in tanks and sold.

Also, have you heard of Kopi luwak, also known as civet coffee?

This is a coffee that consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus). The cherries ferment as they pass through a civet's intestines, and after being defecated with other f***l matter, they are collected. Asian palm civets are increasingly caught in the wild and traded for this purpose, they suffer in cages forever, fed nothing but these coffee cherries in cages, until their death.....be on lookout and avoid this coffee at all cost 🙏🏾

Being reminded of Sam and Simon's story, and little cub Rainbow who was trapped in a snare and found in such a terrible state her paw had to be amputated reduced us to tears, and a burning desire to do whatever possible to help similar bears that are suffering.

Please, check out my fundraising coming up. I will have Animals Asia branded items too on sale, as well as my Scafellpike and Snowdon climbs.

Enrichment and creating a space where natural foraging and socialising instincts are encouraged is vital, especially after the years spent in confined torture. This is partly what your donations help with... as well as food, medical care and lifetime care for these beautiful bears rescued from bile farming. Thank you for supporting our fundraising for to help rescue moon bears. In April, I'm climbing Scafell Pike as part of training for Snowdon a few months later...please see my link below if you are able to sponsor me 😀

A huge THANK YOU to all 11 volunteers (from the North and South), who popped down to help out at today's
Big Bear beach clean Littlehaven
It was a chilly one with a cold wind sweeping the beach, but our lovely volunteers, children included, (not all in the photos) were focused on clearing every little bit of debris. 5 bags of rubbish removed.

Amongst some of the random items, a bucket full of synthetic hair, clothing items, iron pegs, a nitrous canister, a large metal ring and a rusted bed frame (shudder to think of seals and cetaceans getting trapped in the latter 😞

My next community volunteer beach clean is on Saturday, 22nd March, at Whitburn/Seaburn. Due to tide times, we will meet at 12.30 on the beach, below Latimers and Whitburn Bents carpark. Kit is provided.

Our justgiving page is to help fundraise to help Animals Asia rescue animals, including cetaceans that are in captivity and exploited for entertainment.
If you cannot join us on the beach but would like to support please see the link below:-)

Happy Saturday folks... headed to Roker beach this morning for a dip but did a clean first.....there was a lot of plastics, fishing line, ghost gear, dog foul bags, bits of fabric trapped in the seaweed. The 5 bags weighed in at 51kg...thankful to people who regularly litter pick when out and about. My next Animals Asia North East UK support group Big Bear beach clean is tomorrow, 11am at Littlehaven, South Shields. Kit is provided, be nice if you joined us....dogs and little ones most welcome. Also, Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK have a beach clean tomorrow at Blast beach, check out their page and North East Beach Clean to get involved in community volunteer events.

Ghostgear is the term given to lost or discarded fishing gear. A lot of this goes on killing marine life long after it's lost at sea...a lot of netting and monofilament is not visible to sea creatures, and inevitably leads to disaster, or death by suffocating, strangulation, ingestion or entanglement.

My litterpick along Blackfell Road Washington today was a bit frustrating...I counted around 16 dog foul bags tossed in the woods, many cans and alcohol bottles, oh plus a pregnancy test!!.
Struggling to comprehend the reason for such lack of care for nature and our environment. Thankful to a my cat Lilo for cheering me up with a lovely cuddle 💕
