An update on Phoebe
Hello, thank you so much for all of your lovely messages and support over these last weeks/months.
I decided to go down the treatment route with Phoebe, as she is so precious and deserves me to try. As I said previously, if I tried and it wasn't for her, then I would stop.
Fortunately, so far, Phoebe is coping really well with all of the treatments. It's the 4 drug treatment (CHOP protocol) to give her the best possible chance. She is unbelievable!
Last night, she had her fourth treatment, which is the strongest . I was anxious, as I am all the time now. So far, however, she's coping really well. We're having a quiet day today (apart from having to take Fleur to the vet for a potential ear infection this morning - thank you, as always, to the incredible King's Road Vets!)
Phoebe is into her last week of steroids, which are given for the first 4 weeks. She now has a week off and then we do another 4 weeks of the same treatments. After that, it's alternate week sessions. I'm praying she continues to cope well and that it has a positive effect on fighting the lymphoma cells.
She's still eating and choosing to play ball. She's enjoying time with pals and lots of cuddles at home (nothing new there, then! ππ).
We have started our walks and boarding again, too. As long as dogs are fully vaccinated, wormed and had flea treatments, and not suffering from any bugs, etc, (same as normal), we're fine to continue, according to our wonderful vet team. We're not overdoing things, however, as I need to do what is best for my darling girl(s).
Thank you for all your messages and calls; they truly are appreciated ... π β€οΈ π ###
It won't allow me to upload two videos, so here is the other one ... ###
Hello again, thank you so very much for your love, care, concern, messages and offers of help over this last week. It truly has been incredible!
My precious girl is doing well, although I don't know if we're out of the woods, yet, if at all.
Phoebe has been extremely poorly, but is gaining strength and her appetite. Thank goodness !She's been in the Emergency hospital and also spent a day with our fantastic vets, King's Road Vets. They are absolutely wonderful!
To cut a very long story short, she was vomiting, shaking and rapid, shallow breathing on Monday morning at about 6am. When she arrived at the Emergency vets, her temp was extremely high and she had a fever. She was also in pain. A scan showed her spleen to be enlarged, as well as an enlarged lymphnode in her abdomen area. Her glands were swollen. Her bloods were normal. She was extremely weak and listless and she was dehydrated. They kept her overnight and her temp returned to normal the next day, but a further scan still showed enlarged spleen. They also dud a more explorative blood test which showed extremely high inflammatory markers (C reactive Protein which should be below 10 was 148!)
They said they were concerned about an underlying cause, which could be serious.
They allowed her home, but I had to keep an eye on her fir signs of temp increase and she was to be checked by our vet the next day. Although King's Road Vets were full, they booked us in, due to what was going on. They are amazing!
The next morning, she was trembling and rapid breathing again, so, as advised by a wonderful friend, I got as much water into her as possible and it calmed down. When we got to King's Road, they took her temp, which was normal , thank goodness, and admitted her for fluids, further blood tests, a repeat of those done and a scan. At this point, she hadn't eaten since Sunday. Her bloods showed that her white blood count was high, but red blood cells were good. The other tests showed that CRP had co
