Eagle missing!!

**update - 20/01/2025 - we’ve had a positive sighting in barns green today and have seen her. She’s showing interest in the food but not enough at the moment to come down. We lost sight of her around 3pm ish, please let us know if you see her in the area, any sightings too far from this area are likely to be buzzards and not her as she’s not traveling far each day**

**sightings can now be reported here for an accurate location https://www.animalfinder.co.uk/collaborate.php?code=779de08558d2b1e1696815ca7a3fcb6b **

**EDIT** we only need sightings of today please as we’ve had eyes on her up until this morning.

Saturday - Tuesday she was Horsham near by
Wednesday to yesterday she was in Southwater, she should still be in that area
**

We need your help!

Kali our white tailed sea eagle has been out since Saturday, we’ve been able to locate her each day with the signal from her transmitter but she’s not ready to play ball. Today however is the first day we’ve not got a signal, we are out trying to find one but are asking if residence of Horsham and Southwater could keep their eyes to the skies and let us know if she’s spotted.

Please comment on this post, send us a pm with a sighting, location and ideally a photo so we can identify.

We’re relying on our fantastic followers and the power of social media to help us out so get twitching bird watchers 🦅

Thank you in advance.

434.085 frequency for our falconer friends

she'll have a 2 meter wingspan and you'll spot the white tail. buzzards will look just as big in the air but will fly with short bursts between flapping where as kali will soar a lot longer before doing a flap or two

Raising Awareness
Leptospirosis is a Zoonotic disease
Mainly spread from Rodents urine it is easily contracted via direct contact with those infected and can be spread to Humans and other Animals…

Be Aware of Changes with you Dogs health & If you are at all worried about changes to your dogs health..

Always seek professional Advice from Your Veterinary

LEPTOSPIROSIS!!!!!!

WHAT IS LEPTOSPIROSIS ?:

Leptospirosis is an infectious disease caused by spiral-shaped bacteria called leptospires that can be found in water or moist soil. While once mostly associated with rural environments, lepto has spread into urban and suburban areas.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF LEPTOSPIROSIS?:

Some infected dogs do not show any signs of illness, some may have mild illness and recover, while others could develop severe illness, which can even result in death.

Signs of leptospirosis in your dog can include the following:
-Fever
-Muscle tenderness
-Increased thirst
-Changes in urination
-Vomiting and diarrhoea
-Lethargy
-Loss of appetite

Many signs of leptospirosis can also be seen with other diseases. You may suspect lepto based on exposure history, but your vet will do a physical exam and may recommend a number of tests, such as blood and urine tests, to confirm.

HOW SERIOUS IS LEPTOSPIROSIS?:

Leptospirosis can have life-threatening effects on the kidneys, liver, brain, lungs, and heart. Even dogs that recover may still be at risk for chronic liver failure. In fact, it is estimated that 80 – 90 % of dogs that develop short-term but serious kidney problems are at risk for chronic kidney failure.

HOW DOES LEPTOSPIROSIS SPREAD?:

The bacteria that cause leptospirosis are spread through the urine of infected animals, which can get into water or soil and survive there for weeks or months. These bacteria enter the body through the mucous membranes, in particular those of the eyes, nose, or mouth, or through a cut or scratch. If the bacteria reach a dog’s kidneys or bladder, the dog can spread the bacteria further each time he or she urinates.
It is important to remember that both animals and humans can become infected with leptospirosis.

HOW CAN I PROTECT MY DOG FROM LEPTOSPIROSIS?:

Prevention is best accomplished by controlling the environment where your dog could most likely come into contact with leptospirosis. You do this by keeping rodents under control. Try to sanitise your dog’s environment by eliminating food and rubbish to reduce the attraction of rats, mice, and other wildlife.

You can also stop your dog’s access to contaminated water. Avoid letting your dog drink from or play in stagnant water when out on walks and keep areas of standing water around your home drained, as this is where leptospirosis may thrive. You also should not let your dog swim or play in slow-moving rivers or water sources where wild animals may drink, swim, or generally have access to.

HOW CAN I PROTECT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY FROM LEPTOSPIROSIS?:

The most likely way humans can contract leptospirosis is through exposure to the urine of an infected dog. If your dog is infected with leptospirosis, it is very important to observe proper hygiene, even after he or she has recovered. This includes wearing protective gloves when cleaning up after your dog, preventing face-licking, and so on.

DOES MY DOG NEED TO BE VACCINATED AGAINST LEPTOSPIROSIS?:

The best way to protect your dog against leptospirosis is with an annual vaccination that protects against the major causes of leptospirosis.

If you know anyone who has rescued or bought a Labrador over the last few years please ask them to check the lists and double check the dog’s microchip registration.

The new Act became law on 24th August 2024.

Theft by Finding is also a Crime, as by law anyone who finds a lost/stray dog, must report them to the local animal warden.

We still need the microchip to bring home these missing dogs. Please email your MP and ask them to contact Defra to highlight this loophole preventing pets from getting home. It will only take seconds, just remember to add your address and postcode: To find your MP’s email address use this link: https://members.parliament.uk/findyourmp

This evening Braintree and Uttlesford Districts are being looked after by C Shift. At the start of our duty, we received a briefing from our District Commander instructing us to do whatever we could to ensure that tonight’s deliveries go smoothly.

Only a few minutes ago we received an emergency call regarding two missing Reindeer. Thanks to a quick response from your local policing team, Dasher and Prancer were located having a quick rest stop. They have been taken back to their owner who has put their harness’ on and we are happy to say that Father Christmas’ deliveries will continue into the night.
