This is a video of one part of one of my regular walks. I walk this route at least once a week but I never seem to get tired of this bit of it. I love the way the trees form a tunnel at this time of year inviting me further in to discover more. It’s like an old familiar friend that greets me as I enter. The scenery inevitably changes with the seasons, as we all do, gaining weight here and there and losing our shine over time. Changing shape and size with age. The trees do this gracefully, oh, how we could learn a thing or two from them. They don’t sweat the small stuff but just allow themselves to be. The familiarity of this bit of wood sits comfortably in my soul. Like a partner who you have been with for many many years, and although you know them well and possibly feel you “should” by now, be bored with the sight of them – yet their face is comforting to see. It brings a peaceful reassurance that only time can offer. As I walk beneath the branches of the trees I move easily through the passage of time – noticing the subtle changes. There is no drama here, just a feeling of being at one. This morning I had the bonus of turning the corner to be greeted by the gorgeous Belted Galloway’s – they are such gentle beasts – quietly chewing and ruminating on the grass and shrubland. Such beautiful big eyes that just slowly turn to watch you pass. It’s moments like these make me glad to be alive. #atonewithnature #surreyhills #beltedgalloway #familiarwalks #surreywalks #sustainablewalk #sustainablecelebrant #seasons
This video contains images of an explicit nature...so may not be suitable for everyone! It’s only brief but I believe I caught them in the act...😅 at first I thought it was a flower then quickly realised it was two butterflies...Shadow wasn’t that interested and walked across my shot😅. I guess spring has sprung and the natural order of things will run its course as butterflies and other creatures will rush to find a mate and so the circle of life continues...#matingbutterflies #enjoynaturesbeauty #springtime #surreyhills #sustainablecelebrant
Hunting The Lesser Spotted Woodpecker
I hear you knocking!!!
Today on my walk I had the joy of trying to hunt a Great Woodpecker - although I guess in my case it should be the “lesser spotted” Woodpecker!!! I could hear it hammering away up in the trees but he managed to avoid my camera...still you can’t hide the noise he/she was making!!!
We so need to protect all that we have in nature...so grateful to live where I do...#thankfulheart

Sound on!!! What can you hear? That’s the benefit of an early morning walk!!! Yesterday I left too late and the place was heaving with people - today peace and quiet...😊💕

So today I had to put my lovely rescue hens in to their run and they will not be allowed out again until DEFRA say so due to Bird Flu...yet another zoonotic disease which is currently in the U.K. it makes me cross to think we have rescued these gorgeous little birds from early slaughter after a crap life laying eggs - to get a taste of freedom free ranging round our garden - only now to be locked in again because of what we humans are doing to our planet!!!
When habitat are allowed to be as they should be populations are separate and virus pools remain distinct.but when wildlife trade, unsustainable food systems and deforestation have brought animals and humans into close proximity cause the huge boom in Zoonotic diseases...that we have seen in the last few decades - these spill overs of diseases will continue to happen as long as human kind keeps threatening the health of our eco systems...The One Health System set up in the 2000’s recognises that human and animal health are interdependent and bound to the health of the ecosystem in which they exist...we have to change our ways of being on this planet in order to save it- pandemics and more zoonotic diseases will follow if we continue to treat the animals and plants with complete disregard...wake up people the writing is on the wall...
