Sticky was fed last night. She photographed well and then her pupils re-dilated as she was on the hunt again! Popped a couple more small locusts in for her.
Don't you all find animals eyes and their dilation or lack of interesting?

We're still in mourning after spending a cracking two years assisting, rescuing and rehoming our beautiful residents.
These delightful souls left for the North... They're spending time at Cheshire Reptile Rescue.
The enclosures, equipment and enrichment left for aways down the road in Evesham, helping another rescue with opening their new premises.

Our last resident leaves tomorrow for his new forever home and then it'll be the end of a bloody amazing adventure for us.

This page will stay open. Random reptile spam and well, we want to keep interacting with you all, that's for sure!

We are SSR and we will always be SSR, but our doors are now closed.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Swindon Snake Rescue. We've leapt from strength to strength in the last two years and we've rehomed so many animals, and taken lots in as well.
We've been recommended a lot of times and we've been in so many situations, good and bad.
We've loved working with every animal that has passed through our doors and we've loved working with the fabulous humans we've rehomed the animals to.

We've been busy behind the scenes and we are sad to announce our residents are leaving our home for the final time on Monday. A superb reptile rescue is helping us finalise our closure that day, we will give their details in due course.

We are so very sad and do shed tears often about this. This decision has not been taken lightly and knowing some of our own are leaving on Monday, too, well, the whole sorry event is heartbreaking.

The page won't close. We still want snake and reptile spam from you all on here! We're also open to being sent friend requests should you so wish as our own pages will still be snake related, we just won't be using this page.

A huge thank you for all of our followers and likers and everyone who has rooted for us. Our success is down to you guys!

Randy is the perfect example of a perfect snake. His relationship with handling is fabulous once out of the viv. He has glorious colours and has certainly come along in leaps and bounds since he started living at SSR.
He needs a large enclosure as he is a big boy, plenty of enrichment and lots of love and patience.
Do you know someone who can give this snake a superb 5* star forever home?

Just a side note to all our followers, we always deliver when we say. We never falsify when we can do things in our messages.

Andy works full time, and now that Covid restrictions have eased, it's not unheard of him being away a few times a month. Myself? I'm a private tutor with a few students who I have to plan lessons and homework for which takes time to do.
We have four children, ages 10, 8, 2 and almost 1. We keep the rescue ticking and we have to take time out to recharge. We're becoming Mr and Mrs in April which isn't far away at all so we have that stress on top of everything else we do day to day.

I'm posting because we do have unanswered messages in our inbox but we can get to those when we've a spare few minutes.

Derreck went to his new forever home yesterday! We will definitely miss his curiosity and his perfect temperament but we know he's so loved already.

We had a rare night off this evening. A night off from the rescue and a night off from parenting.

(Yes, we admit, this equated to two hours to ourselves, but they were the best two hours we've had in a long, long time!)

Mr SSR was having trouble with a thermostat, and it was beyond his fixing abilities.
After a phone call, he visited the Ladies and Gents at Microclimate. Such a lovely bunch, they fixed the thermostat and we could not be happier.

We generally use a pillowcase plus box/tub to transport an animal.
Unfortunately we'd run out of them this week so we had to buy new.

Today, we've been gifted a selection of pillowcases and we are so grateful for these!!

We bid our wee man Tiger a fond farewell this morning. He's left the SSR troop and will be living it large at his new forever home.
We will miss your little face but we know how much care and appreciation you'll receive from your new owners which makes us so very happy.

THIS is what we do. Changing and rearranging. Sorting and making the best for the best with what we have.
We're getting married in just over 9 weeks time and what do we do? SSR work for the weekend instead of wedding prep!
Mad? Heck, yes we are.
Caring and full of appreciation for the animals we have here? Also, yes we are.

Just an FYI... wedding gifts are best in alcohol form and free childcare if anyone's wondering! 😉🤣

We've had new members of SSR come in recently, some of whom will be getting their enclosures looking more like the rest of them, others the weekend after. We've someone visiting a sweet little fellow tomorrow and we've got a new home lined up for another of our residents.
We're working really hard behind the scenes. We're putting our all into our animals. We would love to rehome more of our animals.

As always, send a message regarding what species you're looking for, morphs, names of those you like the look of here, anything that can help us tailor options to you.
