This little one helps us every day to collect our eggs. It seems only right that she gets a treat and these are her absolute favourite! And what’s better is it is a double yolker - only the best for such a good girl 💕
Did somebody ask for some babies content?💕
Our sweet girls are coming back into laying after a well deserved break. As you can see, they’ve used that time well with dust baths, sawdust burying, and most importantly - food!
See if you can spot the excited zoomies jumps from one of our ladies! 💕
We are closed for the winter!
Thank you for your continued support since we set up. With the winter quickly approaching, our girls are taking a well earned break to focus on staying cosy and enjoying their treats.
We will be back early 2024 to bring you lovely people our farm fresh eggs once again 💕
Bit of a wet morning for the girls!
We have been on a bit of a rescue mission this morning, but luckily all our girls are safe - and the ducks are enjoying it the most!
Please bear with us for eggs, as this weather will have shaken the girls up, which will have a direct impact on how happy they are to lay. We will update you all when they are happily laying again! 🥚
Spinach all round!
Our girls have their food supplemented by fresh home grown veggies - today, spinach was on the menu! By giving them the planter, they are also given the chance to exhibit natural scratching behaviours. This is in addition to them being able to free roam on fresh grass where we often scatter corn for them to search for.
Over the winter, our little fluffy butt friends naturally prioritise warmth (don’t we all!) over laying, so eggs may not be available as regularly as usual. This is in addition to how a few of our newbies seen in this video are still learning how to lay.
We’ve just got too many eggs!
We have a HUGE surplus of quail eggs currently as these girls have definitely enjoyed being spoilt recently - so they’ve rewarded us!
Our quail eggs are £2.50 a dozen while stocks last - as they’re just too good for them to go to waste!! Drop us a message to reserve some to collect 😌
With our chicken eggs as popular as they are, we are going to have to start taking pre orders. This is so that you lovely people know you will have the chance to have some lovely fresh eggs, and don’t have to be disappointed if they sell out on the stand! Please drop us a message and all orders will be as first come, first served. Prices will, of course, stay the same.
Our quail eggs will be available consistently due to our girls giving us nearly a dozen a day!
After adding another run and expanding our outdoor roaming area, it’s now T-minus 1 more day before we pick up our 4 new girls to add to our flock! We will have 2 more Burford Browns for that delicious rich dark yolk, and 2 olive egg laying chickens for a perfect rainbow egg basket 😍🪺
Feeding time for our little quail girlies! Obviously a little girly brunch today had been arranged 💁🏼♀️
Despite our girls have free roam with their run, the space to stretch out and lots of enrichment for when we can’t supervise them, they have been queuing so politely to have a wander round outside the run. So what could we do?
We’ve built a further ‘extension’ for them, of course! A lovely fenced grassy space where they can hunt for scattered food and have a proper ‘zoomies’ session if they want (and they did!) This little space allows us to let the girls free range, but in safety, and with the knowledge that they can return to their run if they want. And they seem to be loving it!
(Of course, for safety from those pesky foxes, they are encouraged back to the large run overnight!)
Just a reminder that we will have fresh chicken eggs available to purchase on our stand on THURSDAY! Stay tuned for updates!
Yesterday, we introduced you to our chickens and our ducks. Today, we’d like you to meet our quail girls!
Whilst their requirements are very different for an appropriate space for them to live, enrichment is just as important.
We provide our quail with fresh herbs, plenty of places to hide, lovely dark nest boxes and sand baths. Not only that, but they also have regular access to fresh greens like lettuce, which is a favourite of theirs! We cannot begin to tell you how many extensions they have been given, and we have even recently purchased a lovely “quail condo” (chicken run and coop) to pop onto their run so they have even more space to roam!
Our quail eggs are available to purchase at our honesty box, and are lovely in Asian style dishes, or in a salad hard-boiled on a warm day ❤️🥚
Happy hens make happy eggs!
Our girls are on the best quality feed we can buy and have as much enrichment as we can provide. Our enrichment varies weekly to keep it interesting but includes;
- hanging treats such lettuce and watermelon so they have to find interesting ways to get their favourite food!
- old tyres full of straw or soil for them to rearrange and dig through for (more!) food and treats
- hanging CDs so they can chase the reflections on a sunny day - or even check out their own reflections!
- Lots of places for them to nest and roost off the floor so they feel safe
We have now even installed a little chicken swing! Who knew they loved to swing as much as us humans?!
Enrichment is important to our little feathered friends to keep them happy and healthy, and this is reflected in how happy they are to lay us their delicious, multicoloured eggs!
And yes, you see correctly - we also have 2 gorgeous ducks who are usually seen splashing round in their personal paddling pool. They are currently slightly too young to be laying yet, but as soon as they are we will let you know! 🥚🦆🐓
