Yesterday the world lost a beautiful soul๐ข. Mabel, aka Hawkoak Moor to Give a much loved member of the House Sitting Team, after a long illness bravely borne was put to rest with her little nephew Walter by her side.
She was well known as Monstrous Mabel in her younger days; not long after we got her, she dragged a 9 pack of toilet rolls up the patio steps and shredded them in the garden - it looked like snow๐ - we couldnโt be cross with her as she was so proud of herself. She adored her crate, all her โtreasuresโ were hidden in there. So if ever we lost anything - shoes, hats, boots, gloves - we would usually find it in there. She was a much loved member of the local Pets as Therapy team for several years in her younger days, visiting several elderly care homes a couple of times a week as well as visiting Exeter University students before their exams. She and her uncle Bracken adored each other, often to be found snuggled up together under the table after their walks. She loved her walks, the muddier the better and also enjoyed a regular paddle in whichever was the nearest river or stream. She also loved nothing more than โassistingโ in the garden; digging holes - where they shouldnโt be ๐คฆโโ๏ธ - shredding flower pots and helping Bracken โpruneโ the fruit trees. Everyone loved her and she loved everyone.
With huge amounts of love and thanks to Derek Clark and Hawkoak Gundogs for the โloanโ of her for the last twelve years ๐ข๐ข
RIP Mabel; 17/06/13 - 07/07/25
