Hi everyone, as youβve seen from the UKA press release, Karen Ingram, Georgia Hatton and I have signed a deal to takeover UKA from itβs current owners. Weβd like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as some of you may not know us!
Iβm Holly Jervis, Iβve been competing in agility for 3 years now with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Lady & Dash, they are my first dogs and I have managed to reach G7 so far with my eldest! I became interested in agility when I got Lady as a way of boosting our relationship and giving us something to do that wasnβt just plain obedience. As you all can relate Iβm sure it got very addictive very quickly, something that my competitiveness didnβt help to quell! I became involved in helping Georgia run the Toy Breed Agility League and thatβs when we decided that weβd like to start running shows and then UKA Bounce and Squeak Shows were born! I absolutely love spending my weekends running around fields with my dogs, especially UKA with the 5th height and select height options as both my dogs are 250 at UKA. When I heard that there was the possibility of being able to purchase UKA, it was an opportunity that I couldnβt let slide! My day job I work as a Project Manager so Iβm very excited to apply my skills to my hobby that Iβm so passionate about alongside getting to know many more of you!
Karen has a great passion for all aspects of dog training which culminates in her very successful dog training business - K9 Brats. Karenβs skills not only translate into agility but she is also a highly qualified Clinical Animal Behaviourist. She runs the UKA K9 Brats shows in Cheshire, which if youβve been to will know are some of the friendliest shows around! The shows have been running for many years now, and are where I (Holly) competed for the first time. Karen has been a huge help to Georgia and I with setting up and running our UKA Bounce and Squeak shows so we are very excited to be in partnership with her. Karen currently owns a Border Collie (Shaun) and two Miniature American Shepherds (Chaos and Firework aka Fizz).
From Georgia "I'm Georgia, I have been involved in agility for around 12 years, having started with my first dog, a little whippet x, when I was 13. Whilst she competed over old-large, and we even competed at Crufts on two occasions, the ability to do a standard height drew me into UKA quite early on. In her later years, the option to do select height meant an extra year of competing. She retired early this year at the grand age of 13, at UKA Bounce and Squeak, the show I run with Holly. I still compete, now found with another little whippet type and a small (but shouty!) Australian Silky Terrier, for whom 250 height is perfect! I work as customer service manager for a dog treat manufacturer - a role I am sure will translate neatly into handling the enquiries side of UKA!"
We are all looking forward to the future that UKA holds, and we are more than happy to take any feedback you have onboard to make sure it stays an organisation that you all love and enjoy.
