Janes dog walking

Janes dog walking I’ve worked with dogs for several years and last year decided to set up my own dog walking. Walks and pop ins are tailored to suit you and your dog.

A great alternative to kennels is a home boarder. A lovely friend of mine does this. Please check her page. 🐶🐶

‼️🔥🌡HEAT WARNING ‼️🔥🌡

We are expecting extremely high temperatures this weekend and into next week. The Met office has issued an amber warning for heat, with highs of 38/39 degrees expected on Monday and Tuesday.

Just a reminder that heat can be very dangerous for animals. We do not recommend walking your dogs in such high temperatures. Dogs will not die from missing 1 walk, but 1 walk in excessive heat could kill them.

Please also be super careful about pets and cars – never leave a dog alone in a car in high temperatures, even for a short time or even with the windows open.

Here are some tips for helping to keep your dogs cool and comfortable:
- Keep them indoors, keep curtains closed to prevent sun coming in
- Use fans to help keep them cool (a bowl of cold water in front of a fan can help circulate cool air).
- Ensure access to lots of fresh cool water
- Make cool tasty treats – stuffing and freezing a Kong, or making ice cubes with your dog’s favourite foods in them
- Paddling pools in the garden can be a fun way to cool off
- Cool mats to lie on

Please also remember it is not just our canine friends who can suffer in the heat – it may be best to keep your feline friends indoors too if possible, or ensure lots of access to shady areas and plenty of water, to prevent them getting heatstroke.

Try to ensure horses have shade available, and make sure they have plenty of water. We would not recommend exercising them in high temperatures.

We hope you all stay safe and cool!

Tomorrow is forecast hotter than today.
If this is the case I will be adjusting walks.

With the summer holidays coming up and everyone thinking of holidays. Please make sure you use a registered/licensed kennels or home boarder.
I’ve seen so many adverts lately that say they are doing it for extra pennies. This is all well and good but they will probably not be experienced or insured.
If you are unsure please feel free to message me and I’ll see if I can help. 🐶🐾🐶

Dogs done for today. Walked early and have reduced some walks to garden only. Far too hot for them and me 🥵.
Lots of indoor cuddles in the cool.

Looks like it’s going to be a warm week again 🥵
Walks will be adjusted if needed. 🐶

There seems to be a lot of ticks about at the moment. Please make sure your dogs are up to date on their flea and tick treatment 👍🏻

Another thing to be aware of in the hot weather 🥵🐶

What’s the most common cause of heatstroke in dogs? If you said “being in a hot car”, you’d be mistaken. 75% of cases of heatstroke are caused by exercising on a hot day.
Tomorrow is going to be a scorcher, so, as well as not leaving your dog in a hot car, it’s vital that you avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day, and stick to times when it’s cooler, such as early morning or in the evening.

Find out more about heatstroke and when to walk your dog on hot days at thekennelclub.org.uk/dogsdiehotwalks.

Thursday and Friday are going to be hot. I will be assessing walks. Some might be shortened or may just be a garden visit. 🥵🥵

Is this the start of summer? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

With the weather warming up I may need to adjust walks. This maybe cutting the time down or coming slightly earlier to avoid the heat. If you have any queries please contact me 😊

Also in the summer holidays I will only be working Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays.
If this doesn’t work for you please let me know and I’m happy to help find either another dog walker or doggy day care. We have lots of lovely ones around here.

Thank you 😊 🐶
