🌟🐴Calling Northern horse communities🐴🌟

We are looking to recruit a Foster yard in Northern England or Southern Scotland who will have the experience and facilities to take in/assess new horses and help them find new homes. This will help us achieve our goal of helping more horses in the Northern area, reducing their travel time and therefore improving their welfare.

This is a Paid opportunity where Blue Cross pay a livery contribution, as well as all vets, farrier and worming costs.

Our ideal new Foster yard will have the ability to separate pairs or a small group of horses/ponies from the rest of their yard whilst they undergo a 28 day Admission period and will need to have good biosecurity during this time. They will need to have a good working knowledge of horse health and behaviour and have great communication skills.

Every day, we take in sick, injured, and homeless pets, helping them find the loving homes they deserve. Georgina’s fundraising will directly support these pets and provide essentials.

We regret to inform you that due to limited team availability, our rehoming centre will be closed for drop-ins today, Saturday 6th, and Sunday 7th. However, any previously scheduled appointments and adoptions during this period will proceed as planned.

Please rest assured that the well-being of our animals remains our top priority, and they will continue to receive exceptional care during this time.

For those who were planning to register with us in person and adopt a new pet, please contact us via [email protected] and we'll get back to you next week.

During the weekend closure, our dedicated first response team will be available to handle any phone enquiries.

We are truly grateful for your understanding and support during this temporary closure. Your contributions make a significant difference; therefore, our donation bins are located outside the reception area for your convenience.

Currently in a foster home in this area, Storm is a stunning 21-year-old chestnut Thoroughbred mare with a heart as big as her personality. Standing at 15.1hh, she’s ready to enjoy her golden years as a non-ridden companion.

Storm is looking for a calm home where she can relax and enjoy her retirement surrounded by new horsey best friends. She’s happy living out 24/7 with mares or geldings, or can be part stabled – whatever suits her new family best.

Volunteer Coordinator (Part-time, 2.5 days/week)

Are you passionate about people and pets? We're looking for a motivated and inspiring Volunteer Coordinator to join our Rehoming & Fostering team in Thirsk!

In this role, you’ll:
✔️ Recruit and support a diverse team of volunteers
✔️ Promote Blue Cross locally and build community partnerships
✔️ Be part of a dedicated and compassionate team

🕒 This is a part-time role (2.5 days/week), which may be worked 3 days one week and 2 days the next.
📍 Based at our Thirsk Rehoming Centre
🗓 May include occasional weekend or bank holiday work
