Our Story
AD ASTRA Kennels and Cattery, the new name for Gibdyke Lodge, still run by Anna and Andrew. After 15 years here we decided to have the name we always wanted.
The picture shows a hot summer day, way back in 2004, when we began rebuilding the kennels and cattery. It took 10 years of hard work, but most agree the final result was worth it.
For the Dogs - every room is fully tiled and insulated, with underfloor heating beneath beds and infra red heaters above, with additional space heaters for overnight. Three big secure grass paddocks allow safe playtime every day, with floodlights for the dark nights; and of course dogs from different families do not play together - we do not risk the possibility of a fight happening.
Every room for the cats is fully tiled and insulated, with an oil filled radiator for warmth. We are not allowed to let the cats run around, and possibly away - but they do get cuddles and a groom each day.
