Wild Walks My aim within this business to be able to offer your dog a second home. I will love and care for the This is an extended walking dog business.

We offer up to 2 hours of exercise including socialisation and with your permission, basic training for fun and finish with a wash/groom before home time.

10 years ago today I started walking dogs 🐶 and it was the best thing I could have ever done.

Believe it or not, but I got into dog walking by accident. My love for animals lead me down this amazing path. I was infact nannying for a few families, looking after their horses and walking their dogs, starting of with dog aggressive dogs, human aggressive dogs and training my friends puppies. I definitely put my self straight into the deep end 😅

It was the training side that I absolutely adored and naturally, this is how I attracted buiness whilst out and about.

After finding my gorgeous horse, I officially set up my Wild Walks page and found an incredible job in natural horsemanship, here, my lovely boss allowed me to bring the dogs along to work where I slowly grew my buiness and started to train them to horses.

As I grew, each summer I was devastated to hear that dogs would attack/kill sheep and that’s where Chopsy came in. She was incredible, so much that we had the press head hunt us where she made the news, she was in quite a few papers and we found out that she had in fact made it world wide.

All of my horses and sheep have been an indispensable asset to my business, training dogs not to chase or attack, making walking stress free when out in public because let’s face it, we have all by accident walked into a field of livestock without realising 🥰

As amazing as my guys are, (we were head hunted a couple of times by the press, which I kindly declined), with my passion and natural ability to help train and walk dogs, I can assure you it has not been a walk in the park......

On my 4th year, my horse job sadly came to the end, there was no more work, I thought I would have to pack it all in due to lack of business, the amount of leg work that goes into running your own business in the first few years is exhausting, but with great determiniation, I managed to keep going and I was doing well.

Then covid was on our door steps, I felt like giving up on life, I think a lot of us felt the same. Not being able to go out or cuddle all the dogs really got to me. But we all made it and if anything, business started to flood in... hello covid puppies 😅

For a couple of years I was doing great 😁

Then my 8th year came around, this was definitely my lowest point in my whole business career, including personal. I realised moving to halberton and growing larger to facilitate full time and part time staff was the biggest mistake I could have made. Especially when some tried to or even succeeded at stealing parts of my business from me. I miss my sheep dearly 😔

I was told that I failed and that I would never make my dream come true, by people I don’t know and worst, by people who were supposed to be my closest friends.

Without making mistakes in life, you can’t grow, and if all was lost, there’s definitely more I gained!

My dream finally came true, I now have my own private walking land, with the addition of my amazing naughouring farmers land. My dream is better than I could have ever imagined and to top it of, I am fully booked 🥰

Not only this, but I applied to be a police dog handler thinking I could do both jobs along side each other. They were very impressed with my training abilities and were eager for me to join, however, they wanted me to give up my business, which I am not ready to do yet, but they have said they will welcome me with open arms when the time comes...... perhaps another decade of dog walking first 😊

To all other professional dog walking businesses out there, if you find your self struggling or going through a hard patch, keep going, we all have our ups and down but you will get there, if I did, so can you.

As a bit of advice

1. ALWAYS have a written contract, because even if you are the type of person to respect someone and do the right thing, unfortunately, not everyone else is like this. Cover yourselves!
2. Never rent land of people who don’t know anything about animals.
3. Trust your gut, it is 100% always right.
4. If you make a mistake, don’t get too hung up on it, correct it if you can, learn from it and move on.

I will definitely be having a very large strong drink tonight in celebration of all I have managed to achieved in these last 10 years 🥂

For those who know my background, will understand how incredible my story has been and how rare it is of someone in my shoes to have accomplished what I have been able to do.

When I was given use of the woodlands, the owner said, you’re more than welcome to use it so long as the dogs don’t chase the wild life.

I openly admitted that I don’t have much control if we happened to come across a pheasant on our travels, but I can promise that they won’t chase the red deer 🦌

Well today we have come across our first encounter, not just one, but 2 happened to jump out in front of us, I asked the dogs to wait, I then waited for them to get out of site before I gave them the release command to continue.

Your pups are AMAZING!!! Not one chased 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

We had a friend come join us this afternoon, say hi to Bow 😍 (first photo) considering she’s not always great with others, she fitted in straight away with my guys, how life should be with our 4 legged friends 🥰

Ray (3rd photo), has come on so well, considering it’s her 2nd time out with her walking group, she had her own little adventures and wasn’t too insecure at saying hi to a few, she even waited for her first group photo without having to be tied up. She is so clever and slowly coming out of her shell 😁

All in all, we had a very playful day and our afternoon pups were very lucky to play a little ball 🎾

Daphne is an introvert, all of her walks so far have consisted of her walking right behind my feet, today is the first time she has run of infront, wagging her tail and is a lot more relaxed, lush to see her come out of her shell 😍

Normy is still slow as a snail, but at least he's sprinting to keep up bless him. What usually takes me 10 mins to walk down herebis always double time when he's out walking with us 😅

A little bit of today's madness 😂😂 Milo is the culprit for showing starla the mud 🤣 Leia tried desperately to play but she was so over stimulated, it sounded like she was growling at everyone 🤣🤣 Love finishing the week of with this group, we missed Ollie dearly though as he is away on holiday 🥰

Ted's training is going very well 😇 As you can see, I ask for wait, I then reward 😋 I then chuck a treat away from me as this helps refresh thier minds ready to continue training 😊 I always finish a command on a good note, so as you can see the third time he waits for longer, I reward snd then refresh and finish. If I didn't finish there, he would start to get overstimluated and you will find he starts messing about, this would mean my command wait has gone out of the window and we would have to start all over again another time 😅 When your training is spot on, as you can see here, Ted is automatically at a heal and is engaged with me, even though I've told him to go of and enjoy himself. This is a massive compliment and what you want to see after you have finished 😊 Well done Ted 😁 laughing a little at Athenas face as I'm sure by now, coming up to almost 3 years, is sick and tired of being asked to wait as she is always here to help me with training puppies 😂

When you tell Haygean you love him, he says it right back at you 🥰

So Ted barks at dogs outside the car, especially if they are moving, so yesterday and today, I let Athena run along side as we entered our walling fields 🐾 Safe to say, Ted has now stopped barking at Athena and Athena loves running along side me so she can have a fast run 🥰 Just to say that I do not do this with any of my clients dogs. Athena has been well trained to heal and stay by my side whether I am on my feet, on my horse or in my car 😇

They are soooo good 😁 I'll let Delilah of due to being new, however, they had already been waiting for a good min for Oscar to catch up 💞

Our last post of this years dog show at Mid Devon Show Most obedient dog Thanking Alex Partridge from AB Canine Consultants for judging a very well behaved group of pups 🐶 This has been my 5th year running the dog show since it was first introduced at the mid devon show, it is always my most favourite day out of the year and its been lovely to see it grow each year, Ben Checketts and I can't wait for next year and already look forward to seeing you and your pups there again 🥰 Thankyou to everyone who came and participated 😇
