🪿Meet the Orinoco geese, these geese are strong flyers but will only fly when pushed to, swimming is not their best sport and they prefer to wade in shallow waters and wetlands.

🪿Orinoco Geese are near threatened, their population is declining due to hunting and habitat loss.

🪿Orinoco Geese are one of the few species of cavity nesting geese, utilizing hollow logs, elevated off the ground. On very rare occasions, they may nest on the ground. Breeding occurs in pairs, with a well-defended territory. Breeding season is February-April. A normal clutch size is 6-10 pale brown/cream eggs.

☀️Tips to keep your flock cool☀️

Chickens cannot sweat and will pant during the hot weather. Chickens do something called flushing- they drink lots of water to keep themselves cool from the inside out.

Here are some of our tips to keep your poultry cool:

☀️Provide LOTS of shaded areas
☀️Make ice lollies buy freezing some of their favourite treats in a muffin tin or ice cube tray
☀️Add some ice cubes to their water to keep it cool throughout the day
☀️dust baths!
☀️Provide a shallow tub of water for the chickens to stand in to cool down
