BLANKETS AND TOWELS NEEDED🐾

With so many dogs in our care, we get through a LOT of blankets and towels.

If you have any spare to donate, we would be very grateful.

They can be brought to the centre in Llanharan CF72 9RA, any day between 9am and 4pm. There is a red donation bin in the car park outside reception.

Little Lola suffered a spinal stroke (fibrocartilaginous embolism). She has now recovered but has a slightly different walk where her nails wear down abnormally. She wears the back ones down more than the front. So I clipped the front ones for her, and she was super well behaved and enjoyed a treat afterwards.

Let's talk paperwork!

As we know, when stressed or under pressure it's often harder to find the very thing we want or need. So, we recommend organising things ahead of time.

XL Bully Type dogs have a paper trail while many people have been organising exemption (England and Wales) or are doing so in Scotland.

Documents may include
- Proof of liability insurance
- Proof of exemption (or application to do so)
- Proof of neutering
- Proof of DLO assessment

It is worth keeping a copy/proof of submission dates you've sent emails. These are generally time stamped and can prove an email was sent if there should be a technical error or fault.

We also recommend keeping a comprehensive file of all important documents which you can access whenever needed. Whether that be due to a spot check or emergency, you can be confident knowing everything is right where you needed it to be. Staying calm, methodical and advocating for your dog.

Our suggestion is to keep 3 files.
🐶 1 digital copy on your phone or uploaded to the cloud. (screenshots are fine)
🐶 1 paper copy kept in a folder in your home/car
🐶 1 paper copy kept safe by a second person. Either a friend, family member or someone who knows the dog. This is helpful if ever the registered keeper has an emergency or falls unwell.

It take a little effort to be prepared yet it may make a huge difference in a time sensitive or emergency situation.

It is also worth keeping a copy of documentation if your dog is found NOT to be type by a current registered DLO.

I went to see Lola to clip her nails last weekend. Lola is an older lady 💜. Some of her front nails were very long and one had penitrated her pad so hopefully she's feeling much more comfortable now. 😊
Older cats can lose the ability to retract their claws properly and they also get thicker and so sometimes can get caught in carpets and blankets and are more likely to become ingrown.

So get checking those nails regularly 🐾👍

There are lots of options for dental care avaliable for cats and dogs. Whether it's gels, water additives, suppliments to add to food or even the diet and treats itself. Always make sure you look for the Veterinary Oral Health Council seal of approval on the products you buy.

Daisy's owner asked me to check on her as she was showing some signs of blocked a**l glands.
I made friends with Daisy, who was a super friendly Chihuahua before offering her some cheese on a lick mat as a distraction while I expressed the glands.
It worked a treat 😀 so much so that she went back in my bag and stole the tube of cheese afterwards 🤣

💉🚙🩺🚛 Announcement 🚛 🩺🚙💉

We were approached earlier in the year by the - They raised concerns to us about the huge shortage of veterinary services and practices across the valleys of South Wales and Newport.

So, We have been working together to be able to provide more services to families and their fur babies (Cats, Dogs and Small Furries)…

Therefore, as of March 2024 we will be offering routine clinics for vaccines, health checks, appointments and routine procedures such as neutering and dental from our new MobiTHEATRE! 💜

We will be located at sites on set days a week in;

Merthyr Tydfil
Aberdare
Ebbw Vale
Newport

We are open to expanding our sites from client suggestions too 🤍

Our days and sites will be released in January, however we have confirmed that our Merthyr Tydfil site will be Merthyr Tydfil Practice 🐾
