SLOW PONY...... SLOE GIN.... the official recipe!
💥Edited to say I've now found the original author!!
Credit to Peg’s Pony Pics Page

You will need;
* one very slow pony, (the slower the better)
* the shortest stirrup leathers you can find (like when you were a teenager in the 1990s pretending you were Frankie Dettori)
*a carrier bag, the sort that normal ponies are frightened of
* Sloes (see method below)
* gin (lots of)
*sugar (caster probably)
*some large kilner jars or something. Maybe passata bottles? (Washed)
*little pretty bottles, (don’t worry about these immediately)

Method;
Locate something sloe bushes, these are often on bridleways and are usually spiky. Google it if you’re not sure. Manoeuvre slow pony under bush and utilise like a furry step ladder to get all the sloes that the walkers can’t reach. Take them home, remove as many of the twiggy bits and spiders and pony fluff as you can, and b**g them in the freezer. Spend the evening sampling the gin to ensure it’s the right quality. The next day, or maybe the day after, whenever you can face the smell of gin again, take out the sloes, defrost, prick them if you can be bothered, then bottle up into your kilner type containers at a ratio of 1 pound of sloes:1 pint of gin:300g sugar.
Leave somewhere dark until about Christmas, then strain and put in pretty bottles, which you can decorate with a picture of your slow pony.... and ribbons, glitter etc.. give to family/ pony pals for gifts...

🍷 cheers everyone!

This is an amazing tale, I love a bit of history when it comes to blood lines…..
We have broodmares that go back to Secretariat and Northen Dancer in there……

Thankfully we don’t need to the air raid shelter 🐴❤️

A little Friday night history lesson: This is Nearco, the influential Thoroughbred stallion, being led out of his bomb shelter in 1941. The structure was built to keep the prize stud safe at his home in Newmarket, England, Beech House Stud, during World War II—rumor has it he knew to go inside when the air raid sirens went off.

As for the magnitude of this Italian-bred horse: without him, we would have no Secretariat, Northern Dancer, Sadler's Wells, or Justify. Even our sporthorse world was changed forever—Nearco is in the pedigree of many influential warmblood stallions today, like Diamant de Semilly, the best jumper sire in the world, responsible for jumpers like Emerald and Don VHP Z.

So, whether you ride a Thoroughbred or a warmblood, you very likely have a 16-hand Italian stallion (pun intended) to thank for it!

If you need any saddle fitting or adjustments keep Georgia Squire in mind! If you give her page a follow she is giving away top tips so you can see if you need any help with your saddle and it’s fitting!

Pen testing… 🖊️

An interesting strategy, which I will use forever now!

By using 2 pens like in this photo, you can test to see if the width of your saddle is correct.

If the pens run parallel like they do below, your saddle width is probably spot on! If they are angled, something is not quite right, how clever is this?!

Had another great day today looking at some lovely ponies for my case studies, I just can’t wait to go full time saddle fitting.

Thank you all for your support! 🙌🏻

James aka Rosewarne Secret Service is 5 months old.

Over the last 5 months he has shown us what an amazing little chap he really is, confident and comfortable around his herd, willing to please and very fast to learn when we are working with him.

We have decided with his lovely breeding and temperament we will be keeping him entire for the future 🧡🧡

Don’t over complicate it....

There was a time when you were just happy to ride, happy to be in the company of horses. It didn’t matter if you could execute a perfect lead change or jump double clear rounds. You were just happy to have two feet in the stirrups and ears leading the way.

You didn’t care about having the best tack, the coolest boots, or the newest hi-tech breeches. An old ex-racehorse, your favourite, and wearing a worn out pair of jeans with a colourful t-shirt did the job just fine.

You didn’t spend the days between Christmas and New Year planning a heavy schedule of training sessions, clinics and competitions. You threw tinsel round your pony’s neck and went hacking with friends. The new year was just another 365 days to go riding.

Don’t forget that you started this sport because you loved the animal. You loved the rush of galloping across open fields and the serenity of watching horses quietly graze in the sun. You do this because there is nothing on this earth that makes you feel more alive than being on the back of a horse, so don’t overcomplicate it.

Enjoy the little things, because one day you will look back and realise... they weren’t little at all.

This young lady is Flump. She is 17.3 Thoroughbred.
A seriously gentle soul with a lovely character.

Her breeding is absolutely Phenomenal, we would normally use the phrase “she has more black type than Nijinsky” but this young lady has Nijinsky in her bloodlines! Have a read up below if your into TB bloodlines.

We will be putting Flump in foal to a full bred Irish Draught this year!

Flump - Media Sensation is our tallest checking in at 17.3h

Sired By black type winner So You Think a New Zealand bred thorough bred, who was champion three year old in 2010! Group wins closer to home include Tattersalls Gold Cup, Eclipse Stakes, Irish Champion Stakes and Prince of Wales’s Stakes. He is a son of High Chaparral who is an Epsom Derby winner and son of Saddlers Wells who needs no introduction! With a dash of Najinsky in the mix.

Then theirs her dam side, A Media Luz trained by the great Nikki Henderson, raced in class 1&2’s winning and placing at both. A Media Luz sired by Johann Quatz contender of group one races such as The Arlington Million and The Breeder’s Cup Mile and has been placed in both.
