🧳 TRAVELLING WITH CATS 🧳
This is Ben, and despite his resting Persian face, Ben rather enjoys being in his cat carrier.
We're sure we don't need to tell you that cats aren't very fond of travelling. However, we do have some advice on how to make it a more positive and smooth experience for your cat.
🎒 The Carrier:
• Cats should never travel loose in the car or in your arms. When visiting the vets, please do not carry your cat inside, open your cat box, or bring your cats on a harness and lead. There are dogs around, and we don't want any spooked run away kitties or frustrated pooches!
• Choose an easy to clean material such as plastic. It should be robust and not too small or too big. Top opening baskets also make it easier to load and unload your cat.
• Cats should not be placed in a cage together. Even the best of friends can become stressed, uncharacteristic, and unpredictable.
• Line your cat's box with newspaper and a towel or blanket that smells like home. A towel or blanket should also be used to cover the box when travelling.
🐈 Loading Your Cat:
• Encourage your cat to eat or sleep in their travel box, so it does not only appear when they are travelling somewhere. You may also want to introduce the carrier a day or two before the appointment, if possible, if it's not around all the time.
• Use bedding that smells like home or spray a pheromone spray into the box thirty minutes before use.
• If your cat panics, wrap them in a thick blanket and place them in the carrier with the blanket.
