Here's how it typically works:

A veterinarian or trained professional implants the microchip under the pet's skin. The process is quick and relatively painless.
2. 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
The pet breeder and keeper then registers their contact information, along with details about the pet (such as breed, colour, and any medical conditions) onto the database. This information is linked to the unique ID on the microchip.
3. 𝐏𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
If the pet gets lost and is found by someone, an animal control officer, a shelter, veterinarian or other professional body can use a microchip scanner to read the unique ID on the chip. They can then contact the microchip database to retrieve the keeper's information. This service is available 24/7.
4. 𝐏𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐝:
Once the database is contacted, the keeper's information is provided, facilitating the reunification of the pet with its keeper. This is a crucial tool for reuniting lost pets with their families.

Animal Tracker is essential for improving the chances of finding lost pets and ensuring a swift and accurate reunion with their families. It's important, and law, for pet keepers to keep their contact information up-to-date in the microchip database so that they can be reached in case their pet is found.

🚨 New Law Alert! 🚨

The Pet Abduction Act 2024 is officially in place, making stealing a cat or dog a criminal offence. 🐶🐱

Until now, pet theft was treated as property theft under the Theft Act 1968. But pets are so much more than property—they're family! 💔 This new law finally recognises the emotional impact of losing a beloved pet.

⚖️ Under the new Act, pet theft is now a specific crime, with penalties of up to 5 years in prison and/or a fine. Police are now required to separately record pet theft cases, ensuring they get the attention they deserve. 🙌
