Best of British Butchery – Venison, want to sharpen your knife skills or hone your deer butchery abilities?
We're running an event in conjunction with Perrys Field to Fork in Staffordshire on the 1st March. Come along to what will be an in depth day where we'll go through
stalking advice and tips, best practice guidance relating to animal selection when culling, disease recognition, skinning, butchery and venison burger making... and certainly some eating too.
Each person who books on and attends the day will go home with half a fallow carcass butchered and packed ready for your home freezer... and... a ticket for the The Stalking Show in Staffordshire in April, kindly donated by the guys at the show.

Do you or anyone you know fancy a free clay shooting experience?

We’re looking for participants who have never shot before or have only shot once or twice to join us at Yeaveley Estate Ltd, Yeaveley, Ashbourne DE6 2DT on Wednesday 15th January 2025.

This opportunity is open to anyone aged 13 and over.

The event is part of the BASC shotgun coaches' reaccreditation process, which occurs every 3 years. As part of this, our coaches will deliver free shooting lessons to willing participants.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to try something new, completely free of charge!

26 & 27/08/2025 Game Shooter Certificate at Bagots Park Estate, Staffordshire.

BASC’s Game Shooter Certificate 1 course is designed for the sportsman or woman who has recently taken up game shooting or is seeking further advice and guidance.

The course will provide an insight into and a wider understanding of game shooting and improve success and ability in the field. Successful delegate will be awarded the BASC Game Shooter Certificate 1.

We had a fantastic time with Stafford College Riverbank Chefs. Well done to all of the Students!

BASC teamed up with Nottingham College and their Fletchers restaurant to host two game evenings using locally sourced game meat.

The students received lessons from BASC on game meat and how to prepare it for cooking including skinning deer and plucking pheasants and duck.

BASC Central would like to raise a glass to the students and staff for their dedication and hard work. The food prepared was truly delicious and looked incredible. Thank you to Nottingham College and the staff who supported this evening.

A massive thanks to all the people who came out to enjoy the evening and try the wonderful game meat, to Nottinghamshire’s own Thoresby Estate for supplying us with the venison, pheasant and some of the duck and also to Lincolnshire Game for supplying the woodpigeon and duck.

Here’s to wild food and wild places.

Intermediate gralloching: Best practice workshop 8/02/2025 at Thoresby Estate, Nottinghamshire.

This workshop will provide candidates with in-field practical experience of best practice gralloching techniques, with tuition from industry experts on carcass inspection, handling and optimal hygiene practice.

The intermediate deer course is a two day course designed as a step between DSC1 and DSC2 and the aim is to prepare students for the DSC2, and help any DSC1 holder gain further practical experience.
