I'm heartbroken.

I've had to make the decision this week to close down 😢

*Due to the cost of living, license fees and other issues affecting small pet businesses, as of 3rd November I won't be continuing Jen's Pack of Paws anymore.*

I'm really gutted to have to close down, as I've loved all of our walks together and I feel so honoured to have been entrusted with your fluffy family members for the time I've been running.

I'm happy to continue having the dogs as long as I can (cut off date being 3rd Nov).

Thank you all for being so fabulous with me, I honestly never expected to have such brilliant clients when I first started up and will miss the owners just as much as the dogs.

Take care during these tough times everyone.

Took my professional camera out on our walk today and got some fab shots.

Feeling very sorry for myself right now. Had to go to hospital late last night for severe stomach pains. They're still not sure what it is, so keeping me in for at least another day. Much prefer dog noise to human noise all night 😪

Don't worry though, daycare is still on today, not going to let anything get in the way of my daycare dogs' fun! 😊

But never forget, getting a puppy is a 10 - 20 year long responsibility, so please don't buy puppies as gifts and forget their needs.

There are lots of lovely darlings spending their Christmas in kennels, consider giving one the best year ever by fostering or adopting - they deserve love and family just as much as a puppy does ❤️

BUYER BEWARE

Isn't this photo of Ribena and her pups adorable? You would never believe that she was living in the most appalling conditions with her puppies before she was rescued from an illegal breeder along with over 200 dogs and puppies.

But that's the point - a cute photo can hide a history of misery and sufferring. You will never see the true conditions that dogs from puppy farmers and backstreet breeders are kept in, even more so illegal breeders such as this one. Low welfare breeders will use staged, or even fake, photos in adverts to deceive puppy buyers. Despite good progress with new legislation, puppy farming is far from over in Wales and puppy buyers still have to be vigilant that they are not buying in to this cruel trade. *Taken from another small business owner*

Running a business is hard. What they don’t tell you is that it causes severe anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people. People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore. You have to worry about if you forget to write someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there just is no work life balance when starting a new business. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband, a wife *or a single person doing it all alone*...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially this past year.

Here’s just a reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient.
