🥵 HEAT WARNING ⚠️

It’s super hot today and set to be for the rest of the week!! We have to be extra careful with all breeds of dog, but especially our flat faced friends!

A few reminders for your dogs safety:

⚠️ Do not walk your dog
⚠️ Do not leave your dog in a car
⚠️ Do not transport your dog if they get very stressed in the car
⚠️ Do not leave your dog for long periods out in the sun

✅ Provide your dog with a cool and shaded area
✅ Offer water regularly
✅ Use a cool coat or cool mat
✅ Set up a fan
✅ Soak their coat or dip in paddling pool
✅ Offer frozen treats such as frozen yoghurt
✅ Be aware of heat stroke signs
✅ Contact your vet if you are worried

Bishop Auckland Police have seized nine dogs from a travellers site in the town. Officers executed a warrant yesterday afternoon.

The microchip data of the nine dogs – a Dachshund, a Labrador and seven Spaniels – suggests that they may have been stolen.

These were removed from the address and taken to a safe location outside of the force area to enable further checks to be made.

If the owners cannot be found the dogs will be rehomed.

Welfare checks were carried out at the site on all other animals, including several dogs, by a vet and an improvement notice was issued, which will result in further visits to the address.

No arrests were made, and enquiries are ongoing.

Just a quick message to reiterate some of the things I am being asked regularly
1) I can not microchip a dog which is unwell - if a vet will not microchip for health reasons/ concerns I can not either
2) If a vet has advised your dog be sedated whilst being microchipped please do not ask me to microchip instead! I have no higher authority than a vet and will always advise to follow the vets advice
3) If your dog shows signs of aggression or you know your dog can be aggressive then I sadly will not be able to microchip your dog. I love my arms a little bit too much to loose one to a doggies mouth
I offer a friendly, at home service to try and get as many dogs and cats microchipped as possible!
I am cheaper than the cost of Microchipping at a veterinary practice but I am also only trained to microchip, I can not sedate or give my views on ill health with an animal.
Safety is always paramount when Microchipping!
Not just to keep my arms intact but also to keep your pets best interests at heart and not cause them distress 🐶🐱🐰
