Matrix Dog Development Dog Training Welcome to Matrix Dog Development. I chose the name Matrix Dog Development for many reasons. I get a real kick out of seeing dogs thinking.

Firstly, for those who are into films, I love The Matrix. Also, the meaning of matrix is an environment in which something develops. We want dogs to feel safe, secure and relaxed and to develop in an environment that is a positive experience for them and their guardians. I am an ethical trainer who has many hours of ethical training and have done lots of work with rescue dogs with multiple issues.

I specialise in adopted dogs having adopted 5 of my own six dogs. I have been volunteering my knowledge and skills to help rescue dogs for over ten years and once they're adopted, providing back up! To this day, I regularly have adopted dogs come to stay to save them going into kennels because that environment is just too stressful for them. I enjoy fostering dogs and giving them the skills to thrive in their forever homes. My current foster dog is high flight risk and has full separation anxiety. She's been my biggest life style change but boy have I learnt a lot from her. It really is my happy place. Reading the body language of a dog and knowing its meaning is the key to unlocking the potential of a dog to give it a happy and healthy life. I believe it's really important to keep learning and have been refreshing my skills and looking forward to doing my IMDT (Institute for Modern Dog Training) assessment in December. I have competed, and still compete, in many dog sports; Agility, Heel work to music, Hoopers, flyball, mantrailing and scent work. Over the years, I've built up some fantastic friendships of fellow competitors, some of which are professional vets and other specialisms in the world of animals. The common thing that binds those friendships are a love of animals and getting to meet so many dogs. My goal is to assist owners in having a better bond and understanding of their beloved dog. Not every activity suits every dog but every dog suits an activity from which the bond with their owner is reinforced. These activities allow the dog to develop, be happy and can offer a distraction from unwanted behaviours.

❄️ Snow day vibes with the Matrix crew! ❄️
Nacho Cheese 🧀, Morwenna, and Khia had the time of their lives running and playing in the snow. We even threw in some parkour to shake off the overwhelm! 💪🐾

Poor Nacho, even with two coats, needed a little extra warmth and ended up in my arms 🥺❤️. Such a trooper!

Took Enna to dog Hoopers today! She loved it so much, she decided to turn it into her own game—spinning and zooming right at me! Pure joy. 🐾✨ # #

🎥 Sonny’s Outting! 🐾

Today, Sonny explored a new location and made some amazing progress. He met new friends and even showed off some impressive self-regulation when he decided to make space from one gentleman—what a big step for our boy! 👏

We had lovely chats with new people, and one lady overcame her nerves to touch Sonny and see what a softy he is ❤️ Meanwhile, Teddy the adorable dog was curious but cautious. Sonny pulled out all his best tricks to win Teddy over—maybe a playdate is on the cards for next time? 💙

We wrapped up the day with some fun parkour before heading home. 🏡

Giving animals the freedom to choose is so important. These ducks had the option to explore the snowy yard, but they decided it wasn’t for them and headed back to their cozy spot. It’s always amazing to see how animals make their own decisions!

🌟 New Year’s Day Post 2025 🌟

Happy New Year to all my amazing clients, future clients, and fellow dog enthusiasts!

As we step into 2025, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead for Matrix Dog Development. Our goals this year are clear, achievable, and centered around building a strong, supportive community for both dogs and their humans.

🐾 Training Goals That Empower
We’re focused on setting achievable training goals, ensuring progress feels rewarding for both you and your dog. Every small victory builds confidence and trust, and we’re here to celebrate each step of the journey with you.

🐾 A Supportive Community
Our vision remains to nurture a dog community where everyone supports one another with kindness and understanding. Dogs have unique needs, and by working together, we can ensure they thrive in an environment filled with love and respect.

🐾 Freework Sessions
These will continue to be a cornerstone of our work, helping dogs build independence and confidence at their own pace. The joy and growth we see during these sessions are unmatched!

🐾 Hoopers Goals
This year, we’re focused on bringing together like-minded individuals to explore the fun and connection that hoopers offers. It’s all about building bonds and enjoying the journey with our dogs.

🐾 Client Assurance
To my clients: your trust means the world to me. I am committed to ongoing education and development, so you can feel confident that you’re receiving the best, most up-to-date support possible.

🐾 Collaboration with Amazing Trainers
I’m so fortunate to work alongside two incredible trainers who share the same vision of community, compassion, and continuous growth. Together, we aim to create a space where everyone—dogs and humans—feels safe, supported, and understood.

🐾 Reactivity Can Be Fun
This year, I want to highlight the joy of working with reactive dogs. There’s so much more than scatter feeding and distraction; together, we can uncover a world of possibilities and truly enjoy the process.

So here’s to all of you—my wonderful clients, both present and future—thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s make 2025 a year of growth, connection, and fun for us and our dogs.

Happy New Year!
Love,
Louise

🎄🐾 A Safe & Festive Christmas Feast for Your Dog! 🐾🎄

This holiday season, we all want to include our furry family members in the celebrations. Here's a quick guide to preparing a safe and delicious Christmas dinner for your dog:

✅ Turkey (boneless, skinless, and plain): A small portion of cooked turkey is a great protein treat.
✅ Vegetables: Steamed or boiled carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, and plain peas are healthy options. Avoid adding butter, salt, or spices.
✅ Rice or plain mashed potatoes: A small scoop of plain, unsalted potatoes or rice can be a nice treat.

🚫 Avoid These Foods:

Cooked bones (can splinter and harm your dog)

Onions, garlic, leeks (toxic to dogs)

Gravy, stuffing, or foods with butter, oil, or seasonings

Chocolate, sweets, or desserts containing xylitol

🐶 Keep portions small to avoid upset tummies, and always check with your vet or Companion Animal Nutrition if you're unsure about certain foods!

Post a pic of your pup’s festive plate below—we’d love to see how they’re celebrating! 🎅🐕

Not all dogs enjoy being dressed up! At the moment, none of mine are fans, but here’s a throwback to handsome Neo on his last Christmas, helping Friends of Animals Wales at the meet and greet. Neo spent the day barking at people and then making it very clear what he wanted 🙄—and, of course, he got everything he asked for!

Today is International Animal Rights Day (IARD)! 🐾

December 10th reminds us to protect and advocate for the well-being of animals. Animals, like humans, feel pain, joy, and sorrow, making it our responsibility to treat them with kindness and respect.

This year, we’ve witnessed cases of cruelty like abandonment, neglect, and hit-and-run incidents. These show the urgent need to educate ourselves, support animal rights organizations, and push for stronger animal protection laws.

Let’s work together for a more compassionate world—not just today, but every day. Recognize animal rights. Advocate for change.
