Our Extra Special boy, Mr. Chips, is approximately six years old and a fascinating medium-size cross-breed. Mr.Chips has been in our Cyprus Shelter for a couple of weeks, having been surrendered by his owner as ‘no longer wanted.’

He is an exceptionally kind and gentle boy who has been an instant hit with all the Staff and Volunteers : his easy-going way, constant smile and wagging tail make him hugely appealing. Mr. Chips walks nicely on his lead and enjoys his time in the car. He seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special girl, Annie is approximately four years old and a small-size cross-breed. Annie has been in our Cyprus Shelter for a couple of months, having been found abandoned on the streets. Sadly, when Annie arrived she was frightened of people and afraid of being hurt : she is, however, growing in confidence and starting to enjoy socialising.

Annie is a very pretty girl, with her tri-colour coat and so deserves her forever home. Annie walks nicely on her lead and travels well in the car. She seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs, cats and children.

Friday Focus: Goldie

Our Extra Special girl, Goldie, is around five years old and the prettiest little cross-breed at the top end of small and the very bottom end of medium.

Goldie has been in our Cyprus Shelter for around two months, having been found abandoned on the streets.

She is such a pretty girl and has adjusted really well to Shelter life. Goldie is calm, placid and gentle and should prove to be easy-going and low maintenance in her forever home.

She walks nicely on her lead and enjoys her time in the car. Goldie seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special girl, Millie is approximately four years old and the most beautiful medium-size cross-breed, probably with a spaniel content. Millie has been in our Cyprus Shelter for just one month, having been found abandoned on the streets. Her rich tan and white coat is exceptional, along with an array of freckles and a heart-shaped patch on her left side.

The Shelter Manager describes her as having a beautiful calm nature and is very loving and obedient. Millie is striking in every respect – she is just so affable. She walks nicely on her lead and enjoys her time in the car. She seems to mix well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special girl, Carmel is around four years old and an absolutely stunning hound, at the top end of medium. Carmel has been in our Cyprus Shelter for a few months, having been found abandoned on the streets.

Our Shelter Manager describes Carmel as “a gentle giant with impeccable manners, who is kind and knows exactly what is expected of her”. Carmel has so many positive attributes and is a star in every respect.

She walks nicely on her lead and enjoys her time in the car. Carmel seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special girl, Amber is approximately two years old and a cross-breed at the bottom end of medium : quite possibly with a labrador content. Amber has been in our Cyprus Shelter for a couple of months, having been abandoned on the streets. She has a shy and reticent nature, but once she knows and trusts people, she is very warm and affectionate. Amber enjoys her time on the lead and in the car and likes a lap and one-to-one attention. She is such a lovely girl, oozing kindness and warmth. Amber seems to mix perfectly with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special boy, Rio, is approximately two to three years old and a very small cross-breed of just over four kilograms and and eight inches from shoulder to paw. Rio has been in our Cyprus Shelter for just three weeks, having been found abandoned on the streets. Sadly, Rio is totally overwhelmed with Shelter life : he is distressed, unhappy and longing for his forever home. He is such a sweet boy, with a loving temperament and oozes charm and tranquility. Rio walks nicely on his lead and thoroughly enjoys a lap and a cuddle. He seems to mix well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special girl, Mia, is a mere six months old and will grow into being a medium-size cross-breed. Mia is just another unwanted puppy and is living in the home of the founder of our Bosnian Shelter.

Mia has an adorable and cheeky personality: she is full of fun and has a zest for life. Mia is incredibly pretty and has the most engaging eyes.

Mia seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs and children, but she is not cat-tolerant

Building an Extra Special Dog Community

At Extra Special Dog Rescue, like so many other rescues, we have a never ending amount of dogs coming through our doors. All dogs are welcomed regardless of their circumstances. We do not say No.

Our mission is simple; continue to accept all dogs coming through our doors, save as many dogs as possible through adoption, and provide a life time of care for those dogs that are not suitable for rehoming.

To support our mission we would like to grow our community. We believe that Caring is sharing, and sharing can save lives!

Our Extra Special boy, Lester is around one year old and a medium-size cross-breed, with a probable strong Labrador content. Lester has been in our Cyprus Shelter for three to four months and was surrendered as an unwanted puppy.
Lester is strikingly good-looking and handsome, with his soft brown coat and perpetual smile. He is described by the Shelter Manager as very loving and he has a natural kindness, calmness and gentility about him: Lester is the most affable of dogs.
He walks nicely on his lead and enjoys his time in the car. Lester seems to mix happily with other dogs, cats and children.

She is strikingly good-looking, with her brown and white coat, array of freckles, puppy-dog eyes and the loveliest ears. Our Shelter Manager describes Marigold as very shy, calm and gentle : she has a very loving and caring nature. Marigold walks nicely on her lead and seems to mix happily with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special girl, Sissy is around four years old and the most delightful small cross-breed : she is only 7” from shoulder to floor. Sissy was surrendered to our Cyprus Shelter very recently by her owners as “no longer wanted”.

All of our Shelter staff have fallen in love with Sissy and she is described as "an absolutely delightful and loving little girl". Sissy is not made for Shelter life and is longing for her forever home. Sissy walks nicely on her lead and seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special boy, Cody, is approximately two years old and a small cross-breed, quite possibly with a mini-pinscher content. Cody has been in our Cyprus Shelter for three months, having been found abandoned on the streets.
He is a little shy and introverted by nature, but becomes very affectionate after a short while. Cody is strikingly good-looking, with his tri-colour coat and handsome face: he is the ideal adoption candidate, with so many positive attributes.
Cody walks nicely on his lead and enjoys his time in the car. He seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special boy, Samuel is approximately one year old and a medium-sized hound of some description. Samuel was surrendered to our Cyprus Shelter approximately five months ago as part of yet another unwanted litter.
He is strikingly handsome with his tri-colour coat and amazing ears. Samuel’s white chest and tips are a special feature. He so enjoys human company and shows absolute signs of kindness and gentility the whole time.
He walks nicely on his lead and enjoys his time in the car. He seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs and children but may be a little too boisterous of cats to be certain of harmony.

Our Extra Special girl, Lulu, is we believe, approximately three to four years old and a very pretty cross-breed, at the very bottom end of medium: probably Labrador, with something smaller. Lulu was surrendered to our Cyprus Shelter four months ago, as her owner was no longer able to look after her.
She is strikingly good-looking, with her soft brown and white coat and happy disposition. Lulu is a favourite amongst the Shelter staff and displays her wonderful personality whilst socialising, which she enjoys so much.
Lulu walks nicely on her lead and enjoys her time in the car. She seems to mix perfectly well with other dogs and children, but there is a propensity to chase cats.

Our Extra Special boy, Pongo, is, we believe, around eighteen months old and a small cross-breed, quite possibly with a strong Kokoni content and weighing just six and a half kilos.
Pongo has been in our Cyprus Shelter for just one month, having been found abandoned on the streets. His classic tri-colour markings and array of freckles make Pongo an absolute star.
This dear little dog epitomises kindness and gentility and is longing for his forever home. Pongo walks nicely on his lead and enjoys his time in the car. He seems to mix well with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special boy, Mackenzie, is, we believe, two to three years old and a remarkably small cross-breed, weighing between seven to eight kilos. Mackenzie has been in our Cyprus Shelter for only two weeks, having been surrendered by his owner as no longer wanted.
He has a beautiful coat with tri-colour markings and a white flash to his chest, which is especially attractive.
Mackenzie is overwhelmed by Shelter life, but he is the ideal adoption candidate, with his lovely smile and very gentle personality.
Mackenzie walks nicely on his lead and enjoys his time in the car. Mackenzie seems to be happy socialising with other dogs, cats and children.

Our Extra Special girl, Mitsy, is we believe, around seven years old and a small-size cross-breed, albeit a little overweight. Mitsy has been in our Cyprus Shelter for about one month, having been abandoned by her owner, as no longer wanted.
She is incredibly pretty, with the most amazing eyes and soft brown and white coat. Mitsy is distressed at having been abandoned, but remains, calm, gentle and loving. She is longing for her forever home.
Mitsy walks nicely on her lead and enjoys her time in the car. She seems to mix well with children and other dogs, but is really not comfortable with cats.

Thank you to you wonderful lot who donated to our first ever fundraiser! The first shipment of dog food was delivered to the shelter yesterday and will help supplement the dogs' dinners with some much-needed nutrition. We currently have enough money in the GoFundme to buy another 600kg for delivery next week.

Please keep the donations coming, and share with any dog-loving friends! All the money will go directly to dog food and hungry bellies.

Our Extra Special boy, Dodi, is, we believe around four years old and a medium-size cross-breed of around fifteen kilos. Dodi has been in our Bosnian Shelter for a very short time, having been surrendered because one of his family members has become unwell.
This strikingly good-looking boy has so many positive attributes and appears to be a perfect adoption candidate. Our Shelter Manager advises “he is the best dog ever “ : house-trained, good with other dogs and cats and also spent his life with two loving children.
Dodi has perfect recall, plus his adopter must recognise that he loves people so much that he suffers a little from separation anxiety.
