Ah, that's what Mini Vans are for!

The art of riding is being an easy weight to carry!

When the rider is in complete harmony with the movement of the horse, the inconvenience of the weight of the rider will be minimal for the horse. However if the rider is against the movement of the horse, ie. if he loses his balance often or if he falls backwards or forwards, then he asks a great deal of adjustment from the horse.

𝗦𝗢𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗔𝗬 💧 𝗜𝗡 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 ☀🔥 If you're soaking your horse's hay in much hotter weather, we'd recommend:

✅ Soaking it for a shorter time ⏱ than usual (1-3 hours)
✅ Refresh the water each time
✅ Keep it in a shady/cool place to reduce the risk of fermentation
✅ Be sure to rinse with fresh water, after soaking, to reduce any possible bacterial content

❗️Notice❗️

I wanted to inform all of our lovely customers that we have had an exciting rebrand. We’re now hand making Biothane leads/collars and accessories. Don’t worry we’re still stocking all the natural goodies but we just wanted to have a freshen up on the brand now that we’re offering something new 🥰

Please head over to Mobsdogs and give us a follow! As always, your support is very much appreciated 🫶🏼

Dear motorists -🚗🚙🏍🚐🚚🚛 and non-horse people,
please do not drive in front of a horse-trailer into the supposedly large gap to the foreman.

We have a long distance from the front man, not because we drive slowly Wir, but we need a long brake path. Unfortunately, we don't have it anymore, if you stop in front of us.

Our horses in the trailer need us to be careful and slow in curves and slow down so they have a chance to balance. Not only can they otherwise be seriously injured, it can even flip the entire trailer and cause serious accidents.

On the photo you can see how little space and opportunity the mare has to keep her balance. The foal is even right under her. She knows a misstep could seriously hurt her foal, so she tries to keep it from moving as possible. You can only do that if I can drive carefully. Please help me do this and consider! 🙏🙏🙏❤️

May be shared, because I know that most drivers do it not out of carelessness, but out of ignorance 😉

***RAGWORT***

How many of us struggle to get rid of ragwort in our pasture? Whilst it is incredibly annoying to see those bright yellow flowers spring up each year after year, it’s vital that we remove the plants as they are very toxic to our horses if eaten and may cause irreversible liver damage.
Whilst horses tend not to eat Ragwort because it has a bitter taste, if it is cut, wilted and dried (whether left in the pasture or found in forage such as hay) it loses its bitter taste and becomes more palatable but is still just as toxic.
If you have ragwort growing in your horse’s pasture, the best way of removing it is to pull the plants up so that the roots are removed from the ground. When ‘pulling’ ragwort:
• Always wear gloves and cover your arms.
• Try to pull up the plants when they are immature and before they shed seeds – seeds ripen in July & August and are generally shed in September.
• Ensure that all the root is removed as remaining fragments will regrow.
• It will be easier to pull it up when the ground is soft or damp after rain.
• Ragwort is a biannual plant (flowers every two years) and its seeds lie dormant in the ground so the removal of plants will need to be done annually for at least two years.
• When removed, immediately bag the plant or put it into a container which prevents it from spreading seeds whilst transporting it for disposal.
• Dispose of it by composting or taking it to your local recycling/composting centre. If there is only a small amount, it may be burned if it is safe to do so and away from buildings, people and animals. Safe and effective disposal of the removed plants is key to preventing further spread.
• It is vital that all dead ragwort is removed from the pasture as it becomes more palatable and is, therefore, more likely to be eaten

RIP
Georgie Campbell (nee Strang)
Tragically lost in a fall at Bicton whilst competing in the CCI 4* S class. Georgie aged 36 competed in BSPS Lead Rein, SHP and WHP classes and also show pony classes on ponies produced by the Chris Willett, the Gilbert-Scott sisters and Anne Brickell. Georgie left showing and concentrated on her event career bringing on many young event horses. Our thoughts go out to her husband, family and friends.

Unfortunately some times after a bad experience travelling/loading this can have a knock on affect for future trips .

Today this gorgeous boy had to have some sedation to keep him calm and settled whilst on board as he has had a bad experience whilst travelling.

Thankfully the vet , owners and myself all assisted on getting him on safely then ready to travel to his new home.🐴🐴
