We have received a massive delay with our Christmas products 😞 so I am bringing out one in the meantime which we did last year and that’s the HH Christmas box 🎄

Stuffed with Apple Leaves, Plantain, Rose Flowers & Red Cornflowers.
This Christmas Enrichment toy will give your pet hours of fun on Christmas Day whilst they try to retrieve the forage from the box through different Christmas designs on the front.
Wrapped with twine, Timothy Hay is tucked away on top with a Dandelion Root to follow to give your pet lots of fibre too.

We might be encouraged to get our five-a-day, but fruits and veg are loaded with natural sugars and too much of this is unhealthy for your buns 🍓🥕🥦

Rabbits have a sweet tooth and will gorge on fruit and veg all day if you let them, but this is very bad for their digestive and dental health.

Stick to leafy greens for your rabbits' daily 10% and no more than 1cc of one fruit or high carb veg given as a treat per day.

The rest of their diet should be 85% fresh feeding hay or grass and a little 5% sprinkle of pellets.

It’s not just us that have to be sugar aware! 👀

Rabbit Welfare Requirement 5: Health 🧑‍⚕️🩺

Unbeknown to many, rabbits require annual vaccinations! There are many diseases that can be fatal to your buns, so keeping them up to date on their vaccinations is a welfare must!

As rabbits are classed as exotic animals, checking-in with a rabbit savvy vet is also important. We have a list of quality standard rabbit savvy vet practices on our website to find one near you: https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/recommended-rabbit-friendly-vets/

Please donate if you can, Ted would hugely appreciate it 💚

Hi there! For those of you who don’t know me (where have you been?) my name is Ted but I’m more frequently known as ‘Tedster’.

I’m basically the unsung mascot of The Bunnyjackpot Foundation!

Unfortunately, according to my guardians (the rescue) I’m not very well - though I don’t totally realise it - and I need to go back to the exotic vets for an exotics referral.

Historically I’ve had a CT proving the issues I’ve got: a fractured rib, dental disease, ear disease and a chronic respiratory issue which has resulted in recurrent pneumonia… and when I get poorly I barber myself and get in a bit of a state (but I’m still handsome as heck).

My guardians are hoping we can raise some funds to cover my onward exotic referral at the fantastic Great Western Exotics.

I know I’m a small guy in a big world and I know it’s difficult in the current climate to fundraise but I’d like to send a big thank you to everyone who donates to my care. I was in**ed and kept in a boarding situation for the first few years of my life - and fed on cat food - so I don’t deserve this, but I’m so lucky to have found my sanctuary friends and my home in the sanctuary.

Look at beautiful little Dorit 😍

Can you help with her Spay fee?

Check out The Bunnyjackpot Foundation post for further information ℹ️

Remember when you mention this rescue at our checkout, every 3rd mention we donate 10kgs of Hay 🌾

This lovely little ball of wonkiness is Dorit 🥹

Dorit was surrendered to us earlier this year and we could immediately tell she wasn’t right - she had a tilty noggin and she dragged her legs something chronic, and she’s consistently had an upset stomach.

Dorit has had treatment for all of the above and it’s finally time for her spay! On Wednesday our lovely little wonky girl will have her op, and six weeks after we plan to introduce her to Ted, Vi and Pirate as part of our sanctuary group.

Can you help with Dorit’s spay fee?

Many people simply expect too much from their rabbits, how?

One way you may expect too much is by expecting your rabbit to conform to your home and lifestyle - not chewing or digging your house and new furniture to shreds for example, when their natural instinct tells them to build a home underground and gnaw through anything in their way.

Another way would be in expecting too much of their sleep patterns - expecting your rabbit to ‘go to bed’ at night just as you would and close them away, when their natural instincts tell them to be constantly busy and active to avoid predators, especially through the night.

Yet another way someone could expect too much of their rabbit would be in their social habits - expecting them to instantly get along with a new family member, new animal or new rabbit that enters the home, when their natural instincts tell them to avoid new creatures, approach with caution and chase any foreign rabbit out of their territory.

Remembering who our rabbits are and what is ‘natural behaviour’ for them as a species can help you to keep your expectations of them on a rabbit level, and not on a human one. Otherwise frankly, you’ll be disappointed.

We love our little Fluffle 🐰🤍

Did you know a group of rabbits is called a fluffle? 🐇🐇🐇🐇

As ‘wildly’ social animals, rabbits like to be part of a larger group. This is because as a prey animal, rabbits feel more relaxed when in the presence of other rabbits as they can look out for one another.

Single rabbits on the other paw can become very anxious because they are constantly hyper-sensitive to potential threats – including you 👀

This is one of the many reasons why it is always recommended that rabbits are kept with bonded companions.

Besides, who wouldn’t want a fluffle of their own? 🥹🐰🐰

Sadly, many rabbits are rehomed or neglected because they are considered to have behaviour issues. But it is never that straight cut.

Some ‘undesirable’ but totally natural behaviours like chewing and digging, or what could be seen as aggression, could actually be down to all kinds of things like hormones and loneliness, pain and illness, fear, unsuitable housing and boredom or protecting their territory.

So what do you do about this? Essentially, follow the 5 welfare freedoms, but first you can start with:

☑ Check-up: a visit to your rabbit savvy vet is needed to ensure there is nothing bothering your rabbit

☑ Neuter: this will reduce hormones and make bonding/companionship much simpler to accomplish (a friend will make your rabbit more confident and less stressed)

☑ Environment: look at their set up - increase space, add more enrichment including ways to make them feel safe and less bored

☑ Correct diet: limit pellets and add more varieties of hay to keep rabbits busy, frustration-free and healthy

☑ Handling: learn how to pick up your rabbit correctly, and only do so when necessary. As prey animals rabbits like to keep their feet firmly on the floor.
