The Peacock butterfly Aglais io is a fabulous butterfly to rear. Watch those cute spikey caterpillars grow and turn into one of the UK's most gorgeous butterfly species. These butterflies are varied in habitat and so could be released once grown.

Check out this gorgeous critter! So placid and happy to be handled. This particular vinegaroon is available on our "Pets As Pictured" page where we feature some of our more exclusive specimens.

This large & chunky Mastigoproctus Gigantea giant whip scorpion is ready for a forever home. This particular specimen is exceptionally docile & placid - he seems very relaxed while sitting on hands. Unlike other arachnids, M. Gigantea are slow and ploddy, less shy than scorpions, excellent hunters,....

A tourist tried to avoid a wild animal in a national park and got in a car accident. But it wasn’t a bear or bison that caused the driver to freak out – it was a tarantula.

Who needs ghosts when there are such wonderfully creepy critters about!! Happy Halloween folks.

The cast in order of appearance:
Praying mantis
Whip spider
Giant centipede
Tarantulas
Spider nest
Even bigger tarantula
Fishing spider........ because it's nice to know you aren't even safe from spiders when you go for a swim.

We’re taking a scuttle in a new direction towards some unconventional pets at bugpets.co.uk - land crabs! 🦀🐚

https://www.bugpets.co.uk/product-category/live-invertebrates/land-crabs-hermit-crabs

Our range of land crabs are semi-aquatic, meaning they thrive in setups with access to both land and water, usually around a 1-5 ratio of water to land. (Each species varies!)

We’re bringing in a selection of substrates, pools, and aquariums that can be used to make beautiful part-land part water ‘paludariums’, either by arranging substrate so the lowest level is water or by creating designated bathing areas with pools. Much more to come.

The majority of our land crabs are freshwater, hailing from wet rainforest environments, and do not need salt water. Hermit crabs, on the other hand, require a source of fresh & salt water to keep their gills healthy.

We invite you to take a look at these awesome critters, be sure to do plenty of research to find the best pet crab for you.

Praying mantis can make excellent pets. They can become very tame and used to being handled. Ours will take food from our fingers, chase a mouse cursor around a computer screen, climb up and sit on our heads and survey the world around them with their excellent eyesight, sit in a pot plant by the window waiting for flies, - the ultimate environmentally friendly fly killer- and generally be super cool to have around! We have put together a guide on how to care for a pet praying mantis for anyone unsure of what it entails.

Everything you need to know about how to keep a praying mantis happy and healthy.

We love phasmids which include stick insects and leaf insects, so much choice in shape, colour and form and of course no need for live prey to feed them as they are gentle vegetarians! Here's some fun facts!

Stick insects are known mainly for their camouflage, but they have other interesting traits as well. Learn more about these living "walking sticks."

Giant African Snails love to eat and they will thrive on a varied diet of leafy greens, fruit, some protein such as egg, dried mealworms or other dried bugs and calcium. Calcium is extremely important because without it the snail can't build a strong shell. There is also the risk that your snails might start to munch on each others shells if they are deprived of calcium!

Avoid processed foods such as baked beans, cured meats and cheese as these are high in salt and not good for your snail! Chart is courtesy of https://www.giantafricanlandsnails.com
